A BB SR20DET runs about $1700, and a JDM SR20DE is like $650. If I bought the JDM, with the difference, $1050, could I get a T28 or larger turbo and manifold to bolt onto it? Granted I'd loose the IC piping that a BB DET would come with, but that really doesn't matter since I'd be front mounting the IC and probably be utilizing a DIY setup like Ben so craftily fabbed for his. I appreciate any input.

You'd have to keep the boost low. JDM engines (IIRC) have higher compression ratios than our own DEs, so you have to keep a really close eye on your head temps.

Well in any case I'm going have to go with a Japanese spec engine simply because there seems to be more inclination to mod those over the U.S. ones and besides, I'm not likely to find a low mileage SR20DE B13 that will respond well to a turbo.

Not all JDM SR20's are of the higher compression 10:1, for the most part they are same compression as their US counterparts.

In that case, I stand corrected. Thank you for the knowledge.

yes, you have to look really hard to find a 10:1 SR20.
