91 Classic SE-R

Door speakers: 5 1/4"

Rear speakers: 6 3/4"

Can anyone confirm this?

you can actually fit 6.5 on both the door and the rear. i have the kappa 6.5 components on the doors

*edit*

some say you might need spacers. but im not using any.

Yeah he's right. I have 6.5" in the rear and infiniti 5.25" components in the front. I really wich I got the 6.5" in the front because there is plenty of room for them. Good luck!

well if you pull out those spacers and put in the 6.5's whats the max depth on the speaker then? Cause i really need to replace ALL my speakers. Thinking about doing componets up front too :)

Would you mind posting the depth of the 6.5" door speakers? Bowlcut has got a good question.

Thank you all for responding.

Let me look it up when i get home or tomorrow, but i know that the kappas are the green ones and they are bearly clearing the window rail aobut 1/4 or 1/2 of an inch. i'll make sure today or tomorrow

Hey Guys,
I've been looking into this a bit, my 10yr old stock speakers are shot. There is some info here @ Crutchfield --->http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-xoZmj0m6RET/AutoInfo/Speakers.asp?id=8666.
Unfortunately unlike their print catalog they dont show stock depths (goofs). Accodding to them it's 2&1/8" fr and 3" rr. The head unit depth is 7&1/2 inch.
Personaly i'm leaning towards a stealth install. Components up front and bass heavy coaxs rear. Maybe an amp maybe just a strong head unit.

Speaking of door speakers, anyone got pics in component install in the front door? I want to see how and where some of you mounted the tweeter. I sort of have some idea, just need confirmation. Thank.

Ok, here it is...

i had the kappa tweeters mounted on the door in the plastic thingie but the tweeters blew on me twice, then i got some jl audio tweets and theyre shweet i

I mounted them on the door next to where the grill of the speaker is. its stealthy and it still sounds good specially the sound staging (sp) . so i know the depth is about 3 inches.

I did no customizing or such nonsense.. if you do end up getting the kappas make sure you get the oversized ones so that the mounting holes fit

This is a point you should definitely heed. The speaker holes (both in the rear deck AND in the door) are designed for an OVERSIZED 6.5" speaker. (Why the hell Nissan did this, I have NO idea...)

I fit a set of 6.5" Boston Acoustics out back but the screws are at funny angles due to the fact that I didn't buy an oversized speaker.

In the front, I tired another set of Bostons (which I love BTW... MUCH better than Kappa's) but they hit the window rail. If I had used spacers, I might have been able to fit them but I'm not sure. I ended up with Panasonic pieces of shit that were only 1.5" deep. I would say that if you can find a speaker that is no more than probably 2 1/8" deep, you could probably fit them with a spacer.

Also, take a dremmel to the inside plastic on the door panel covering 95% of the speaker grill. You can almost expose the entire 6.5" speaker by doing this. (Completely non-noticeable...)

i was wanting some polk components myself, just a fan of their stuff sorta. but yea i knew they were what were called 6.5s or now some call them 6 3/4" depends. what i was wanting to do is some decent components in 6.5s and then mount the tweets up in the area between the dash and the cloth part of the door. pretty decent place for them and allows some aiming. i was just concerned with depth on the speakers and i know most have had the problem, plus removing that spacer really cuts into the space. then my next question is where does everyone mount the crossover that comes with the components? like to keep speaker cable as short as possible and not be running in and out of the door a hundred times with cables.

What i did with the cross overs..

double tape and stick it inside the door behind the speaker.. works really well... make sure to have it covered with maybe some platic wrap so that it wont get wet or rusted terminals. it works great

that was what i was thinking about doing. just want to make sure they are secure ***. would hate for one to fall off while racing or something like that. not to mention keeping them dry

I installed my tweeters up on the top corner (closer to the front). When you take the door off, there is tons of room behind there. I just used a dremel to get the holes the way i wanted. They came out perfect, I always get comments on the intall:D

In response to the "oversized" 6.5's I would say that they're not "oversized" but they're of metric measurement. I own Diamond Audio Hex Series speakers. I have the 3 ways with the 6.5, 5 1/4, and tweets. The 6.5's are closer to 7 inches, just because they're a European company. So that's just my guess.
