: Anyone use TireRack for rims?
Crimson_Phoenix 05-03-2002, 04:52 PM Has anyone tried to buy wheels from TireRack.com with the whole selector picture thing? I like the different rims that they had, and was looking at getting a set of 15x7 Phantom Five Spokes for my 200sx.... But they have 5 lugs? THen I noticed that every wheel on the list for the car had 5 lugs? I know our stockers only have 4 and even ran out to the car to triple check. HELP!? Do they just not show the four lug versions of the wheels to save space on the site and they are really fours for sale; or do they think a five lug will seriously fit the stock b14?

Thanks everyone?! :)
Scarpa 05-03-2002, 06:40 PM I'm pretty sure it's just for the picture. They're pretty good and I doubt they'd screw up your wheel specs.
You should be able to verify what specs they have for the 200sx on their site or with a simple phone call.
ser_lover 05-05-2002, 11:27 PM I havent brought from there cause they dont tell the weight of the rims. If the did I would. Plus I wish they carried Konigs.
Benny Boy 05-06-2002, 12:14 PM I work at a place that can get rims. We have accounts with alot of people. If you need some help, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Konig has an account with Discount tire exclusivly. Even though I can get wheels from discount direct (we have an account w/ them), you're better off getting those through them.

Depending on where you live, Discount Tire Co. should be there. If not, goto www.tires.com and see them there.

Soupaflie 05-08-2002, 09:16 AM Tire Rack has the best service and most inteligent staff I have ever delt with. I wouldn't hesitate ordering from them ever. If you call or email them they will tell you the weight of the wheels you are looking at. In their adds in GRM they advertise the weights of their light weight selection.
NismoNx2000 05-09-2002, 04:10 PM I purchased tires from tirerack and i received them very quickly and there service was excellent. I would definately buy from them again.

Me too, I bought my current set of Pirellis from them and I just ordered some cheap Sumitomos, they are here tommorow.
Benito Malito 05-10-2002, 11:14 AM My kuhmos came in about 2-3 business days. This was prompt in my view. The were relatively cheap too.
Ser_Lover; Why so focused on *** Konig's?

Yeah, Konigs pretty much suck. Everyone I know who buys a set regrets it, including me. I bought a set and they wobbled at 50mph.
Mike sr20de 05-10-2002, 03:55 PM hey Storm, have you tried having them re-balanced?

The only reason your tires wobble is because they're not balanced. Konigs suck for another reason. My buddy went through 6 V-Racing wheels, 4 of them cracked!
Benny Boy 05-10-2002, 10:15 PM The only reason your tires wobble is because they're not balanced.
Not really. There is other reasons than just balancing that'll make a tire wobble. One reason is being Out of round! I see it on a daily basis, and its not a hoax.

Konigs use cheaper material to under cut prices. I really doubt that a wheel will just "crack" for no reason. I deal with wheels and tires on a daily basis and I can tell you that I don't see many of our "cheaper" wheels (and believe me, they're worse made than Konig) come back 'cracked'. A wheel has to support the car itself and be able to handle some load on top of that. Wheels are not designed to crack or bend. Some outside force makes them do those things.
Granted, there are defective wheels. But there is a slim to none (and slim usually takes a break in this one) chance that one person will get 4 defective wheels from one company. That just doesn't happen. Sorry!

This was a few years ago, but yes I did have the re-balanced several times, and experiments with wheel weights. They always had a nasty shimmy at 50mph-75mph or so, so much so that I sold them and got Enkeis which were perfect.
ser_lover 05-11-2002, 09:34 AM You guys think it matters that much in the weight of Enkie vrs Konigs?

It shouldn't matter what "shimmy" you're getting. The major thing you have to worry about when you're buying wheels is the fact that you have to make sure that the hub centric rings have to come with them. Those make all the difference!
