don't know about the Spec-V, but I've had my NX up to 150

What mods did you have to allow you to go 150mph?

My brother just bought one. He wouldn't let me take it that far yet.;)

Cool! Back in my "younger" days, my stock NX topped out at 133 mph which is just what Car & Driver said was the top speed. I have all the bolt-ons now and haven't taken it to the limit. Probably never will here in NJ. I value my license too much. I wonder if there is a formula to estimate the top speed based on horsepower and drag?

or if one day u come across a desolate road!! u can just do that and know for sure!!! formulas are for nerds!!!:D

also a lightened flywheel will make a big difference in attaining those extra mph!!!

Honestly, all I had done to go 150 was a stillen header, Greddy exhasut, and 19* timing. I couldnt beleive it either, it went about 135 stock. I did it on a major highway at 3 in the morning on christmas eve (well it was christmas day i guess) We were bored as hell on christmas eve so we put the header on then took her for a run

Unfortunately, there are basically no roads in NJ that are desolate and long enough to go 150 mph without really rolling the dice that a cop won't be hiding somewhere ahead. Its not like out west.

It depends a lot on your trans gears, how fast you can go. If your tach'ed out in 5th your not going to go any faster. I would have to say if you had it up to 150, you were at redline in 5th. No?

Almost at redline. I made up a spreadsheet for actual speeds with respect to tach RPM. I dont know wherre it is, but redline is like 163 MPH IIRC. Gearing does not matter since all our cars pretty much have the same gears, the only real variable is tire size.

I have had my Spec V to 130...thats fast enough for me.

It's actually 153 MPH @ 7500 RPM in 5th gear. I made up a similar spreadsheet. I calculated the max gear speed in 5th using Car & Driver's road test of the '91 SE-R, which contained the MPH per 1000 RPM information.

In Car & Driver's road test the 5th gear MPH per 1000 RPM equaled 20.4 MPH.

(20.4*7500) / (1000) = 153 MPH

That formula is correct because if you apply the MPH per 1000 RPM for, say forth gear, which Car & Driver listed as 15.8 MPH:

(15.8*7500) / (1000) = 118.5 MPH

As everyone knows, it's been proven that 119 MPH is the max gear speed for 4th gear.

but i was under the impression that the nx had the shortest gears so going by that formula, it'd be off by a couple of mph for the nx

If that is the case, then yes, it would be off by a little bit. I wasn't aware that the NX2000 and Sentra SE-R were geared differently.
