: JWT ECU w/S3s idle

I just got my JWT ECU back from adding the S3 program. I've only driven to dinner and back (~5 miles round trip). When I push the clutch in, the idle drops to 500rpm, bounches back to around 1000rpm, drops back to ~700rpm, then settles at 1100rpm. I have the base idle set at 800rpm, and timing is at 15 deg. Any thoughts? The stock ECU did not do this. Maybe I haven't given the ECU enough driving time to learn the car. This is in my '96 SE-R.

Sorry I can't help you with your question but I do have a question of my own. How much for the reprogram? I already have a JWT ECU so the reprograming shouldn't be that much right? I also assume that the process is the same where they send you a new ECU and you are charged a core fee which is reimbursed when your old ECU reaches JWT.

You can do that. I sent my ECU to them, and used my stock one while JWT was adding the program. They charge $100 for programming.

Alot of times erratic problems can be fixed by just unplugging the ecu and then plugging it back in making you sure you get a solid connection. You might also want to clear the ecu.

With my S4 Cams and jwt ecu I set my idle manually to ~950 and never had any stalling issues.

Mine did the idle drop thing for a little bit when I had mine installed. give it a little time it will smooth out. make sure to break in the cams. i don't remember the miles, but you should not take the tach over 4k until they are broken in.(recommended)

The cams have been in the car for over a month. I'll give the ECu some time to settle down. Thanks guys.

THe ECU is learning your car, give it a couple days to smooth out

my car generally has a hunting idle, since it a 97 ecu in a 99, but its been getting better at holding a steady 1000 rpm idle. If the ecu can learn to control my idle in 1 year, it should only take a couple days to learn yours ;)

Another weird idle problem tonight. Since I got my JWT ECU back, I put the G20 ECU back in my wife's car. We drove to get food, and I noticed the idle was at 1900 rpm. I at first thought the throttle cable was too tight, or stuck, but once she started to drive, the idle would drop. After we ate, I pull the ECu back out, reseated the connector, started the car up. it still idled at high at 1700rpm. I thought I would try unpluging the TPS at reseting the TPS memory. That fixed it. I have never had to do that. The G20 ECU has been in both of our cars, and that has never happened before. Now, none of the cars has a speed limiter, and they all rev above 7100 rpm :) All is good. Another thing I noticed. the G20 ECu has the red LED to check engine codes with. The stock B14 computers don't have this :(
