: Wheel arch guards...who has 'em, who makes 'em, where do I get 'em?
garys 05-04-2002, 01:43 AM I ran into a fellow Se-r owner today (figuratively, not literally;)), and her car had a nice feature that I have not seen before...wheel arch guards. It looked like they did a fine job protecting these area of her car from nicks and dings. So...
does anybody have these, or know who makes them, or where to get them?
Thanks, Gary S.
Chrissy 05-04-2002, 09:14 AM Are you talking about those ugly crome things?
garys 05-04-2002, 09:40 AM No. They were black. I did some searching on the web after posting last night, and came up with several addresses as possible sources:
http://www.auto-extra.com/mold_wheel.htm
http://customautotrim.com/products/moldings/install_instructions.htm
http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jhtml?CATID=37482&BQ=jcw2
Chrissy, they do have chrome as well, but those are just for cake delivery wagons;).

Rittmeister 05-04-2002, 10:27 AM I think we need to see pictures.

I delivered cakes yesterday and there was no crome on the VAN. :p
And about the fender trim, I personally don't like it. I would steer clear of that. Try not hitting things with your car and you wont need to protect the fenders. ;)
MervynG 05-05-2002, 02:45 AM Hey Gary,
I know exactly what you are talking about, they come standard on the South African top range Sentra's (the 200 STi's and 200 GXi's).
I am not sure what the name of it is. I am going to Nissan one of the days, I will get the part no, I am sure that the part no should be the same everywhere.
I think they look cool and down here they also help seperate the lower range and the upper range cars. They sell for about R 550 local south african currency per fender.
PS, the guards are black, haven't ever seen them Chrome in South Africa.

garys 05-05-2002, 02:29 PM Hey Mervyn,
It's so cool to see this forum with an international flavor! You have made the most obvious suggestion, yet one that I overlooked...Nissan parts. I will call my local dealer Monday and see what info. I can come up with. And if you are able to come up with some numbers and choose to post them here, that would be great too. I'm not sure how the models you spoke of translate into U.S. cars though. My car is a '94 Sentra SE-R.

MervynG 05-05-2002, 04:09 PM I found this site while trying to get information on my cars engine (sr20de) as I wanted to see exactly how powerful these babies are and what can be done to them, but from what I have seen there are a few different releases of them. Now I know that it is sort a kick ass engine and even better with mods, but I still don't know which type it is.
no problem Gary, I will try and get those numbers, I am going to nissan soon. There is something wrong with my front discs on the car, it is new and is starting to form a break shudder again, so I will definitely be going to see them.
My car is a 4 door nissan sentra. From the post and pics of your guys car, I haven't seen anything similar to yours. I did a post earlier on with a sample pic of what the latest and last Sentra shape was to be released in South Africa. They have now been replaced with the Almera (I don't personally like them).
I will stick to my Sentra for a long time.
The black arch guards from what I understand are plastic rubber out and a metal mould on the inside so that it does not go out of shape. I think it is a nice thing to have, it makes your car a little different from the rest, the only thing about doing certain changes to a car is that once you do it, people follow you and do the same thing to their cars..... and from 1 car, it become 5 cars the same and then 20 cars the same..... and then you don't have a unique car (down here anyway).

MervynG 05-06-2002, 05:31 PM Hey Gary,
I've been to Nissan down here.
The part no's are different in the differenet countries because of the different shapes and releases of cars.
All I can tell you is that in the South African curreny, the latest price of it is around R 700. per wheel arch, so you probably looking at about US $300 for the complete set of 4 if you convert the South African rand.
Sorry, but that is all I could get from Nissan. Your best bet is your local dealer.
C ya,

brian 05-06-2002, 05:59 PM Nissan North America does not sell anything like this. I might be able to get my hands on some if I get a part number and demand though.
