ok, i just bought another black 91 ser, it has a jdm motor in it and the kid says it runs good but it started dying out on him so just wanted to get rid of it, he said that the car wouldnt stay running, so i got the car home and theres no spark or no gas.... so i am thinking it has something to do with the ecu, also the ecu is chilling in the bracket but the bracket isnt hooked up, my question is could the ecu not being bolted where its supposed to be cause the car not to run like the bolts that hold it to the car maybe ground it? or is the ecu just shot? Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Ouch... ECUs should not bounce around. It sounds like it might be the ECU all right. You could always send it to Jim Wolf and have him bench it. Most computer based components do use a chassis ground anyway, so I would not be surprised if the Nissan ECU did. Bolt it down and see what transpires. Checking ECU info now....... be right back....

Ok, tonight my shop manual is not being friendly. From what I can see, it may have a ECU chassis ground. The other problem may be a direct result of it not being bolted down properly. Check the harness. It can come loose if the harness bolt is missing and or it's getting tossed around. Also you can disconnect the battery and pull the harness. Check to see if any of the ECU pins are bent. Hope this helps in some way. Good luck bloke.

thanks cossie,
i disconnected and reconnected it but I havent bolted it down right yet, im going to try that tommorow, the bolt is there and everything so maybe when i connect it to the body it might work otherwise its time for a new ecu.
