First of all I'm a new nx2000 owner and new to the board as well. The car is doing a speratic jerking motion. When you're in gear, say 3rd gear it will randomly jerk forward back and then forward and drive fine again. I've just changed my plugs to ngk iridiums and this is the only car problem I've had with the car so far. Any clues will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Are you experiencing hesitation at a specific RPM?

Could be a lot of things. Since you are a new owner, when you changed the plugs did you change anything else? Spark plug wires, distributor, dist. cap, gas filter, air filter, oil and oil filter - basically a tune up would be good to do. This would be where I'd start because who knows when it was last done.
Have fun trouble shooting.

i would check your spark plugs and wires make sure you got the right plugs for 1 and second make sure the gap on the plug is set right (if it requires gapping) and 3rd make sure you have all the wires back exactly where they were before in proper order. if still bad do a tune up and check your fuel pump.

Is the car jerking forward and backward or is the shifter jerking? If it's the shifter jerking, I would look at motor mounts.

I bet you washed the motor, didn't you? If so, take out the plug wires and dry the wells out.

yes I degreased the motor last week. could you be a little more specific about dry the wells out?

^^^ He's talking about the spark plug wells... you probably have water in there.

I'm sure he's right, whats the best way to get the water out?

just take the wires off and take the plugs out and let it air dry out.

Suck it out with a wet/dry vac or use compressed air to blow it out. There's always the paper towel/hair dryer method. I'd leave the plugs in until all of the standing water is gone.

I've always been a fan of sucking any excess water out with a big straw

using a compressor down your spark plug wells is not a good idea at all! it can very well blow out gaskets and do damage to internal parts of your engine... just let it air dry..

With the plugs still in? Blow a gasket with an air wand?  That's a good one.

The only danger is going to be when the water flies back up out of the hole and hits you in the eye with stank water. Some of you guys have a creative imagination.

If there's water down in the wells, it could take days to air dry.

there was a fuel leak at the fuel filter I found this morning, took care of that, hopefully this was also contributing to the sputtering. time will tell. thanks for the responses guys.

The sputtering is because there is water in spark plug well #1. Take out the wire and take a papertowel and soak up all the water. I think piratetucker hit it on the head.

well as an update, i have put a papertowel down all the holes in the wells many times and there is no water being soaked up, later when I drive for a while there is a bit of condensation on the spark plug boot for cylinder 1, my egr valve does not stick. Any more suggestions? Should I just start systematically replacing the plugs, wires and work my way through the system or is there something else I should try first, thank you in advance.

On a side note, what happens is your driving for about 10 mins and the car is driving great and then all of a sudden the rpm needle will bog and dive from like 4000 to 2000 and back up and the car will buck back and forth. Sometimes when at a stop light in neutral the car will just completely dive and shut off. Trying to start the car after that point takes a few minutes. It will eventually with some pleading catch and fire up, and at that point it generally drives great all the way home.

It almost feels like fuel cut.

OK, make sure the intake hoses and all things related to the intake are screwed down tight. That also sounds like the intake to valve cover hose loose. Then make sure the sparkplug wires are well connected.
