: Water Pumps Reveiled...

well i was just in the garage messin around late at night.. and started comparing some waterpumps, and though it would make for a good discussion. but anyways here were my findings...

here is a Roller Rocker sr20 water pump...
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a392/hypertrophyone/wp2.jpg

this is a 2.0 VE water pump...
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a392/hypertrophyone/wp1.jpg

here is a UK SR20 water pump.
this is where it gets interesting... and this is a factory oem water pump.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a392/hypertrophyone/wp3.jpg

this is a SR16VE water pump.. looks like a 2.0.... but its not...
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a392/hypertrophyone/wp4.jpg

here is a side shot of the sr20 RR and the SR20ve water pump.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a392/hypertrophyone/wp5.jpg

now here is the side shot of the SR16VE water pump... the blades are shorter in depth...
http://http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a392/hypertrophyone/wp6.jpg

here is the SR16 and the SR20ve next together.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a392/hypertrophyone/wp7.jpg

and for those who didnt know... the SR16 comes with a metal gasket instead of the silicone that all other sr20's have.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a392/hypertrophyone/wp8.jpg

now all i can come up with is that the sr16ve water pump moves less water at lower rpm's than the 2.0's do. but in higher rpm moves the same at a higher rpm as the 2.0 does at 7500 rpm. i guess it all rounds out to be the same...but why in the hell does the UK have more blades than the standard DE or VE has, and whats with them being a straight design, versus the curved blades. The UK being the same block... shouldnt have the same cooling capacity as all other SR20's? or is an England thing?

so what you guys think?

Talk about having a bunch of parts lying around. LOL!

from the looks of it....the 20v and the de rr are the same part

yeah they seen to be the same. too bad i dont have a 91-94 water pump.. but i think it would be the same as the RR.

I recently replaced the WP on my 93 NX2K it looked just like the UK pump. I can seen why this type could cause cavitation at high RMP.

exactly what i was thinking, i can also see why it would cause cavitation. fin to fin being so close at high rpm i would imagine i would creat quite a vaccum (right word ? u know what im trying to say) at high rpm.

i wonder if there would be any way to alter the fins to increase the effeciency of the water pump.

im glad u posted this lance, now the next time i change my water pump ill be sure i dont buy the "apocolipse pump" (its late ;/ ).

stratton.

The conventional DE and Roller Rocker DE Water Pumps are the same... at least the lowports... I've compared them and found no dif...

There's my 2 cents!

I have one here at home. I will bring it by today.

well the best being to me is the 2.0 ve and the RR water pump. but i havent seen the 20v water pump yet, to know if it is better. the 20v is suppost to have more cooling capacity for the head is slightly different. it has larger water jackets that run through the head which keeps detonation in check. but i also think that the mezere electric water pump is far suppirior to all.

why is the electric better?

why is the electric better?

More flow, and maximum flow all the time (not rpm dependent).

thank you.
