: Hesitation around 3k rpm

This weekend my car has decided to intermittently hesitate right around 3k when slowly accelerating. If I give it more gas or accelerate aggressively I don't notice it. I was thinking that this could be dirty injectors, so I put some injector cleaner in at my last fill up. It seemed to help, but the car still feels kind of sluggish. Am I on the right track with the injectors or is this the sign of a different problem?

On a possibly related note I dynoed my car yesterday. The graph showed a very "choppy" line. The guy at the dyno said that this is usually caused by a problem in the ignition system. I just replaced the dist. cap, spark plugs, and spark plug wires about 2 months ago w/ Nissan parts from Courtesy. When I replaced the plugs I found wet oil on one of the old plugs. I posted a question about this awhile back and was told that it was just a leaky spark plug seal that won't hurt anything. I have been waiting for another reason to open the valve cover before I replace the seal. Is the oil on the 1 plug causing the crappy line? Would this eventually lead to the hesitation problem I'm starting to notice?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

It's possible that the oil buildup could be your problem. Oil has some conductive properties so it could be decreasing the spark on that cylinder. I had leaking seals (too lazy to replace when removing valve cover) and the car started running like arse not long after, until I replaced them. Give it a try. At least you will stop the oil leak.

That could definitly be your problem also (O2). Find someone with an MDM-100, Nissan plug in computer or put the ECU into diagnostic mod. Then you will know for sure. If you have a friend at Nissan, have him take 2 seconds to plug it in. good luck.
