damn this car is starting to get on my nerves. so much time spending to try and fix it. but still that i have fix or checked even helped. this is on a gtir engine with the stock top mount in a 95 200sx se-r. this is what i did from the top of my head that i remember:

using obdII to obdI adpater running stock gtir ecu
checked grounds
check tps voltage: 0.50v
bought a known working maf 54c00 from u12dreamer00 and hook it on
check for leaky injector-none
new water temp sensor
new thermostat
leak down test for antifreeze-none
pressure tested it (found 2 leaks under the intake manifold where the tube leads to the bypass valve and where the intake manifold and the intercooler coupler meets-tighten it up)now its holding 10psi on the pressure tester
new ngk spark plug bkr7e-11(i think thats the right part #)
new ngk spark plug wires
new battery
new 02 slim sensor
new oil change synthetic10w30(since i've been trouble shooting it some much the oiled smelt like gasoline)\
new oil filter
check ecu for codes (only has the code 5,5)

it cranks but it doesnt turn over and when i give it gas it would sputter and just die. this car is giving me a headache. im thinking about selling this car.
need help! spent to much on it already trying to get it to run. last option is the shop, after the shop and it still doesnt run or if its giving me trouble after i get it running. im going to sell it.

im haveing the same problem. I have a 99 g20 and i put a highport motor in. I have a 1996 jwt ecu and my motor is a 93 ser motor i built up. It will just crank over and over unless i pump the gas and then it idels baddly and when i step on the gas it just dies. It seems to be getting to much gas? If you find a problem and fix it let me know ok.

I would say try replacing the ignition coil and the distributor, rotor and all. that may help. or a bad O2 sencer could be the culprit. I have learned not to think to deep. and it looks like you already did that so try to look more small now. or just back up for a little bit and give your self a few days to just think about it and it may come to you.

I had the same problem not to long ago and it turned out to be the dizzy rotor - the retaining bolt broke and spun the rotor around 120 degrees.

ive been struggling with the gtir swap for a while now using the jwt ecu and i finally realized my maf was the wrong year mustang cobra. this is how i diagnose my engine.

when you crank the engine and pull the plugs what do they look like? are they wet? if they're wet you either got too much gas or no spark...have you checked to see if the distributor is giving spark? buy a coil spark tester at the nearest carparts store (7 bucks) and see if the coils firing. next connect a loose plug to a wire from the distributor and hold it (safely?)real close to something metal. have someone crank the engine and see if the plug sparks. if you got spark...take a wire brush to it and reinstall them...its something else.

couldnt figure out what was wrong with the car.so i took it the shop.got a call from alamo sports yesterday. they said that 3 out of the 4 injectors was bad. so they had a used set of 440cc they sold me and they installed into the fuel rail within a matter of figuring out what was wrong with it and installing it took them 3hours. how gay if i knew it was that easy. *guess i was thinking to deep*sheesh. no wonder i couldnt find a leaky injector. im suppose to go pick it up yesterday when they called but i was at work. so im gonna go pick it up after i get out of class. its been 10-11months since i had a car to drive around with. hopefully its running. cant wait!*drools*

timg20t...u got a 96 jwt ecu and a 93 ser engine. are u sure the obdII ecu can run on a obdI engine? and what is your ecu programmed for? and what engine mods do u have on it? your mods should match the mods the ecu is programmed for. or else your car would not be running right. anyone correct me if im wrong.

got the car from the shop, damn it runs like a champ. all i need to do now is get my clutch cable tighten with brass reducer and a washer. that should do the trick
