: Fast Brakes 11" brakes installed!

ok, after sitting on the box for a few weeks, my buddy and I put them on last night. Took about 3 hours start to finish, we took our time and bled all the brakes. the install went very smoothly, all the pieces lined up nice. We had to cut the dust shield in order to fit the rotor. The calipers are kinda a PITA to bleed, I may bleed them again, the pedal feels a little soft. Just follow the instructions, its a pretty straight forward bolt-on. I cant comment on the braking difference yet, we finished at 11pm last night, and its raining here in NY this morning. I didnt take any pics during the install, but i have a before and after shot. If someone can host the 2 pics for me I would appreciate it.

I want to thank Steve 98sr20de for setting this up!

Thanks!

That looks so good. I'm glad the install went well. The pedal may feel a little softer but it should stop much better. Especially after several hard stops. Let us know what you think after driving them a couple days. Don't forget to bed the pads in. Have I said I am jealous yet?

I will get them to fit. It will be a custom kit and cost about $900. I would guess I will have a kit on my car in a month or two. It takes a while to fabricate the parts. Final specs will be a 11 inch by .9 thick on a aluminum hat, plus the caliper you see on this thread.

Damn, thats alot more than the base kit. I guess its all the custom work that was done. I took down the pics, you want to see them, go here...

I just drove the car back from work, and the pedal is still a little soft. I dont want to "get on them" right away. I was going to bleed them again, but i know that we did it right, and i dont think its going to be worth the time. I was going to race at pocono this weekend, but now I am a little sketchy. Maybe after a few more miles, it will get better. they feel better today than last night, so hopefully tomorow they will be even better. I know they are a "race Only" application, but I was expecting a tight pedal and instant response..maybe i should bleed them again...any ideas?

Did the kit come with steel lines or a larger master cylinder? If the displacement of the new caliper is larger than the old one, the pedal will feel softer. This does not necessarily mean the brakes don't work as well.

Read through some of the articles on this site: http://www.stoptech.com/technical/ and you will know what you need to do to make the pedal firmer.

Well, the kit came with front S/S line but no master cylinder. The caliper is HUGE compared to the stock one. I will check the link.
thanks!

Just to be sure bleed them again. Use only the upward facing nipple to bleed them. Then, don't be afraid of the brakes. They need to be bedded in properly or they will be soft. Start at 60mph and do a moderate stop but don't come to a complete stop. Do this again several times progressivly harder until the brakes get hot. They will probably smell. Don't stop all the way. There is a great link at www.se-r.net. under the brake section. READ IT. This will help firm them up. These brakes with the OEM M/C will probably be a liitle softer. A bigger MC will help but is probably optional. Only time will tell. Hope this helps.

We bled both the inner and outter nipples...which one should we do? I think we need to do BOTH of them. Let me know...

And CleanSE-R, be ready tomorrow, becuase we are doing this and my antifreeze for the weekend. As for driving, we shall see at pocono!!!!! Tell Shreck to stay home! :P

Basically you are bleeding two nipples per front wheel. Have fun!

Also, Look at this thread. You can adjust the travel of the MC.

http://www.se-r.net/brakes/adjust_pedal.html

Also, what order did you use??

For the '95+ 200SX SE-R and Sentra SE bleed the brakes in the following order: RR, LF, LR, RF. If you have ABS, shut the Ignition off and disconnect the ABS actuator connector or battery cable.
For the '91 - '94 Sentra SE-R and NX2000 bleed the brakes in the following order: LR, RF, RR, LF.
