Big Boost

My first turbo system installed on my SE-R was a T28 with a GTI-R manifold back in '96. It had a ridiculous .49 A/R ratio. I couldn't even get out of my own way! I had stock injectors but had the NA JWT program with a inline fuel pump. It ran a best of 14.5@98mph with 8psi of boost.
I upgraded to the Stage 2 T04E/T3 w/ the JWT 3 bar ECU/50 lb injectors and ran a best of 12.80@110mph with only 12psi of boost. I finally got it down to a 12.29 ET last October.
To show how far the SR20 has come, Luis just ran a 12.9 with a Avenir DET w/ T25 and 370cc injectors!
That is insane!! Andreas Miko produced a BB DET that made 300WHP. These are both times and power figures that I would have laughed at six years ago if you would've told me I could do the same thing. Now, I must simply watch my back!! Damned T25's!

yes but, where is the margin of saftey.
I personaly didn't put my hard earned money down to blow it up.
Sure if you trying to push the envolope.
What about the guys that tried and failed. Sure you only hear about the folks that pushed it and succeded. Belive me I'm possitive many more have failed.
The Bar has not been raised, only tested.
Now if its an all out drag car then by all means Push it. but if its an all out drag car you would be doing what the big dogs do anyway. Big turbo, lots of Fuel, ect.
Food for thought

I am one of those who failed! The benefit is because others have failed (including myself) in the past with experimentations, all of our experiences have taught us all valuable lessons to pass on. Believe me, I blew two engines in my past.
Guys who are installing BB and GTI-R engines have a great deal more support and knowledge than was available in the past. I am just trying to get across the point that the progress of the SR20 is moving forward at a strong rate.
Regarding safey margin, what's your question based on? My old set up or my current one? Running the T28 with stock injectors surely taught me the value of proper tuning. I've used JWT ever since '97 and haven't looked back.

i dont think i am pushing the envelope at all. people have been running 10 psi on their daily driven T25s for quite some time. i have just been more successful with it. pushing the envelope would have been unplugging the wastegate, putting some slicks on and crossing your fingers, IMO.
i raised the boost slowly until i could detect signs of detonation, which i could not find at all on C16, even at 14 psi (i felt bad doing that though, so i put it back to 10) and on pump gas, the threshold is about 12-13 psi, on my car. i put it back to 10, took out some timing, and ran a 12.9@107. i probably could have pulled out a 12 psi run (efficiency goes down the shithole after that) and got a nice 12.6 or 12.7@109-111 or so, but i like my car running, it is a good thing.
maybe when i build up my next motor, and have it ready to go, i will try 14 psi or something, and see what these things are capable of for shits and giggles, who knows, maybe i can bust out a 12.5 or so on a T25! that would be a milestone in DE(T) history!

Actually that guy that Jay Hass helped at E-town hit a 12.4 with the wastegate hose disconnected running on slicks and race gas. His friend with a T25, in a 240 hit 13.3's with it disconnected on street tires.
