I could not find anything similar to what is going on with my car in past threads sooo...
My car has been periodically not turning over. Just a click and then nothing when I turn the key. Now, from past experience it has been my starter in my other cars. I am pretty sure it is that this time. But its weird....it only happens sometimes and last night it wouldnt turn over for like a half an hour or more. I dont know what the deal is.

ANd yes, the battery has plenty of power...the radio worked fine. Just click and nothing when I turn the key.

check the actuator safety switch thingy on your clutch pedal. The starter will only activate if that switch is depressed when the pedal is all the way down. there's something about this on se-r.net. hope this helps!

It could be the starter, but also what you might want to check out is your battery terminals connection. Sometimes if those are poor your car will just click then go dead. If thats not it check the actuator and if all else fails its the starter...they can be had from andreas miko for a fair price. I belive 65 or 75.

Dude, just went through the same thing. The car clicked. Everything worked fine. I reground the negative terminal to the block, re-did the battery connectors and tried different batteries and nothing jsut a click. It is the solenoid on the starter and you have to replace the whole unit on the nissans. You can get one from www.jgycustoms.com as Jason has plenty of them. I think he gave me one for 49 shipped. not bad compared to a new one at 150.

$190 for the refurb starter...man my ass hurts. I should have replaced it on my own at my leisure instead of waititng till the last minute...this garage is charging me 340 for the starter in install. I asked them what stater they are putting in and they said it was OEM. WOw, thats great . If it wasnt raining out I would have have did it myself.

Nissan sucks when it comes to starters. Every nissan car I had has had starter issues. Why couldnt it had waited till the weekend?

thing is just because the radio or lights come on doesnt mean shit. the battery is the first thing to check ALWAYS. if you have a friend pop in a new battery. I have seen more than once, like 20 or 30 times, that the battery was dead enough to power the lights or radio but not start the car. and then the car wouldnt jumpstart either. push start the car makre sure it starts that way. then id get a new battery and check it that way. after that it could be the starter. get under the car and bang on the starter see if that helps any. you can pull it out and take it to get tested, but as john found out they dont really test the solinoid very well and that can be the dead part.
