Ok, after bedding them and driving on them for a little while, these things rock! The pedal pressure is back where I want it and i DID not re bleed the brakes. I tap the brakes and this son bitch just STOPS!! Big test this weekend, im going to pocono with a few other SE-R guys so this is what I got them for! For those who ordered them, wait till you get them on. YOu have no idea how much stock brakes SUCK! Big brakes give you 2 advantages, 1st, they look sick and make a statement, and most importantly, you can stop!

Thanks to BOTH SteVE and Steve, you guys know what you did!

Rob cool bean! I'm glad that your car is ready for the weekend. Can't wait to get mine and have it installed. I will be going through the same process as you have. Men you got me all excited now! :)

He is talking about the group buy from
FastBrakes (http://www.fastbrakes.com) that 98SR20DE had put together.

Do a search for fastbrakes the prices are listed.

Rob,

Did you adjust the freeplay on the Master Cylinder or was the bedding in enough to solve the problem

Bedding them in seemed to work. I went to pocono raceway yesterday, and the brakes worked incredible. My buddy has a 1992 SE-R like mine will all bolt-ons and we raced together. BTW, road racing is AWESOME! After a 25 min session, His front calipers and rotors were so hot that you could not touch the rim and he melted the centercap on the rim! My rim was hot, but you could touch it and no where near as hot as his! So, the brakes were worth the $$$$. I may bleed the brakes again this week after the racing, although i dont think its going to be necessary. The pedal on the track NEVER faded, and they were tight all the time.

That is so good to hear. What pads did you get with the brakes? I haven't researced that part yet. Also, if I remember right you got the 1 piece HD rotor right?

I went with the 11" standard kit, and the EBC green pads. i think for track events, i may want something better. let me know what your research finds!

Wow, Those green pads are pretty mild pads. If they work that good on the track just think of what the EBC red will do or other true racing pads. I will probably get the EBC green for the street and then some racing pads for the track. It is so easy to swap the pads out this just makes sense in the long run. I am going to research the Willwood/Hawk/Carbotech pads for my track pads. I have some HAWK pads that were great on the track but would shoot sparks out the wheels 6 feet when cold. I am concerned about rotor wear.

I wore a set of ebc reds out in 30 mins on track. That was with 11.5"discs and wilwood 4pots.The pistons pushed 2 holed straight through the backplate of the pad.All this at nearly 100mph.

For now the car is still street driven, but wont be for long. i think the pads are completely wasted. I havent checked them yet, but I am hearing some squealing from the fronts, not to mention my rims that were once a shiny silver, are COMPLETELY black now. I dont have time to check em today, so I'll do so tomorrow. Any ideas where to get pads for these calipers? do i just call any brake place and give them the caliper part #?

Check out wilwoods website. All you need to do is order pads for the Wilwood Calipers (Billet Lite??) Everyone makes pads for those calipers.
