Alright I posted about this in the turbo forum but no help. Anyways anyone that has swapped out their cams, can you tell me what is stamped on the factory one??? Mine i would think is supposed to be 54C but it is 53J which is the regular DE cams. Which isnt supposed to be possible.

Suckit, it's odd you ask this question and be it an old thread, it still has yet to be answered, so i will elect myself to enlighten you my brother! Nice meeting you finally btw.

All factory made OEM Nissan cams in FWD sr20 are stamped from Nissan 53J. Regarless of what motor type they are in, 53J, 54C, or 79E all the cams are 53J marked.

The only way to tell them apart is to clean them as the as the hydrualic and roller cams are metal finish or grey painted (non friction areas) & mechanical head cams are flat black in the non friction areas. As I too have a many GTi-R's and wondered why all of them have 53J cams?
