Okay fellas friday night i went and picked up a new part of the family....(pics will come as soon as i uplaod them). Its a 97 200sx se-r with no motor or tranny but has everything else. Body is in good shape, small rust spot on drivers inner door..but not too bad to fix. Im gonna do a total face lift to the car...objective is to make it look like my other 200 minus the paint and rims. She has b14 stockers painted black so i dont think i can get rid of them. Stay tuned for that...

Now on to the questions, this is my first actuall se-r so i know some things are different....The rear disc brakes is a plus!! But whats the deal with the sway bars and strut bars...Does the se-r come with a stock sway bar?? It came with a sturt bar as well i think they added it.

It also has a sensor in the engine bay that detects if the hood is shut??? its a white tab sticking up by the coolant resovior.

And last question, im pretty determined on this one but want some ideas....what motor to put in there...im not going det motor cuase i have one and ve is too expensive so i guess what de should i get?

all se-r's have 4 wheel disc brakes
just about every car has a stock front sway bar
the sensor in the engine bay is for the stock alarm system

and motor is just preferance

yeah but im curious on compressions, i couldnt find a thread with all the numbers...what is the jdm compression numbers compared to the uk...are the jdms 9.5:1 like the usdm's?? The rare UK is the 10:1 right?

Also what about the roller rocker sr20, i might turbo it down the road but im not for sure...so im trying to think best option here...

it just depends on what the motor came out of
both jdm and uk can have 10:1 or 9.5:1 for regular det's 8.5:1
roller rockers are 9.5:1 (thats what i have)

if your gonna turbo it, going higher compression isn't as good

And no torque. Get the SR20VE if youre going VE.

Misconception. It makes more low end than a DE and doesn't drop off up top.

That being said, get an SR16VE with tranny and throw in an SR20DE or SR20VE crank... talk to Miko about details regarding this. You end up with a cheap higher compression SR20VE with the legendary SR16VE transmission...

yeah man i like the idea, but a sr16ve is gonna cost me at least 1200-1500 when i can get a jdm de with a tranny for under a 1000...most of the ve's dont come with tranny's right?
