There's an SCCA Auto X this weekend (May 11th and 12th) at the Florida State Fairgrounds here in Tampa/Brandon.
Practice runs are on Saturday... main event is on Sunday. I plan to be there on Sunday. I know a lot of people have said they're going to go... should be a fun time.
I figure most people here have either been to an AutoX or know what one is, but in case you've never been to an AutoX... think of it as a big parking lot with a bunch of cones laid out for a course. Your task is to run your car as fast as you can through the course... hopefully without hitting any cones. This is a great way to know what YOUR car can do. You don't need to have any mods done to your car... in fact, most seasoned racers generally advise new racers to start off with a stock setup.
I'm not sure of the exact cost to run this event... but it's usually around $25 per person. If you're just interested in showing up to watch and hang out... that's free. =)
Hope to see everyone there...
