my paint is pretty dull and could use a GOOD buffing since my car is black. what kinda products should i use to get a SHINY car?

I would like to know too. My roof is almost pink. :( :mad:

One of the best products to get back a nice shine and get all the oxidation and residue off of our paint is to use the Mothers Clay bar system. Its an entire pack that comes with a clay bar that you actually run over the surface of your car. You should be able to pick it up at auto zone, pep boys, or an equivalent place near you. Then after the clay bar, do a nice glazing using 3m if you so desire, and then follow it up with a nice polish, maybe zymol or meguiars. This should get your paint looking like new. Be prepared to spend at least 30 bucks for all these goodies. Hope this helps.

I use Meguiars(spelling?)step 1 paint cleaner, does about the same thing as the clay bar. It's liquid, rub it on and buff it off. Follow it up with a good wax, very nice.

Man, my car was pretty nice when I got it besides the shogun tuner pin striping. I used the clay bar and what a difference. There is nothing like it..besides maybe other clay bars...hope you have some free time and a nice day to do it. Its kind of neat to look at the clay bar and see just how much dirt is sucked out of the 10 year old car. And the car feels smoother than glass when you are done and finally wax it. I strongly recommend it...I used paint cleaner to strip the car first then I used the detailer and clay bar combo...then zymol.

I also recommmend the clay bar...but after the clay bar, especially with oxidized paint, you will still need to polish the paint.

All the clay bar does is remove surface deposits, such as road grime, tar, plastered-on insects, etc. You will need either a strong arm or a buffer (preferably orbital) and a polishing compound. Remember, when using anything that says "compound", you cannot be careless. What compound actually does is remove thin layers of paint....in your case, oxidized paint. This will let the good layers of paint shine through. I use Turtle Wax Polishing Compound for Clearcoats, it is the safest of the harsh compounds. I haven't messed up a paintjob yet:p

Your next step is to condition your paint. If you have a lot of swirl marks or light scratches in your paint, your best bet is to use a glaze. Like NismoNX2000 said, we use 3m Hand Glaze. After that, feed your paint something to shine more, with a quality polish. I prefer Zymol, but I've heard great things about Zaino products.

Finally, your paint will need lasting protection. For this, any good wax will do the job. Turtle Wax is cheap protection. I use Gliptone wax....it has given me the best results. All of these products I mentioned were purchased from PepBoys.

This will take a lot of time, but its worth it...trust me! Good luck.

has anyone fixed like paint chips on their hood mine has a few. Sometime i just cover it with some clear nail polish for a short time. Any and all advice is welcomed.

You have been cursed with Nissan's Super Crap. Uuuhh i mean Super Black. All of us have the same dulling problem. It will take a polish to make it shiny again. Once it's shiney, enjoy because it will be dull in 2 weeks again.

My se-r is really shiny even after weeks from waxing it. I dont know if it is the ACTUAL factory paint....but it seems to be. My car just keeps on shining. Shinier than my 95 maxima was. Maybe it was who ownded it and the fact that is was garage kept...but I think the black looks really good still. And above was alls I did.....the clay bar did make a huge difference however in the luster of the paint.
