as the title reads.....i want to change the cheap matrix filter that came with my hotshot cai. i clogged and nasty. i'm also very skeptical on using k&n cleaner for it. are those cone filters from autozone paper???? i looks like it. or should i just use the pop??? i will never ever use a foam filter again. those things do not filter well and clog easy. i heard that the apex filter is the best one. is that right??

Unless things have changed, K&N are still the best. Dyno Tested and proven.

I'm running the Matrix that came with my hotshot cai. I cleaned it with The K&N filter kit. It is still pretty crappy.

I want to put my old pop charger back on. I think it would make more high end power, as the matrix has no velocity stack. I need to fabricate a plate for it I guess.

K&N cone filter would be my bet otherwise

i have seen a website in the U.K. that did a test and the Apex filter came in first in terms of best filtration
2nd was K&N 3rd Blitz SUS 4rth HKS.

the HKS SuperPowerflow came in first in terms of best air flow, can not remember the rest.

I put the HKS on a few days ago, and I will say that it feels good. But I do like the sound of my POP better.

Would it be possible to order a filter from an AEM intake, just the filter part? It is yb K&N and has a velocity stack so I'm sure it would be OK

If you are looking for the best power and easiest to clean then you need go no further then a Stainless filter. Between myself and mine blokes, we have tested every type of filter out there. I started with the K&N drop in (Made a difference). Next was the K&N POP cone filter (That was even better). While dealing with and selling sport compact specialty parts, I came across a Blitz stainless filter on a shelf at half price (half price for me). I could not resist. I installed it and it is the best!!!! Easy to clean (takes about a minute and then right back on it goes), looks good, good power increase and is very durable. There are several companies that sell Stainless knockoffs which work just as well as the Blitz (check Sport Compact mag). We use to sell them also. Upgrading from a K&N cone to a stainless cone made a Honda S2000 customer very very happy. Don't overlook this filter UNLESS YOU LIVE ON A DIRT ROAD!!!
