Hi Guys,
I don't know if anyone has asked this before or not...
What is the best fuel to use?
I am currently using Shell 97 leaded.
But now there are few more options...
1) Shell 95 Unleaded (with some Vapron combustion stuff)
2) Shell 97 Leaded - what I am using at the moment.
3) Now, Engen 97 Unleaded - the latest fuel to be released here.
4) + some other lower octane stuff....
What fuel are you guys using most of the time, for sport and normal daily use?

You are lucky, the highest octane that is readily available in my area is 93. That is what I use in both of my Sentras.
What does your owners manual say is the min. octane that you should use? Does it say leaded gas is alright to use?
wow leaded gas is still made ?
that stuff has bin illegal in canada for a good 15 years now i think ? i would have thought most places in the world would have done the same.

Answer time, I can use both fuels and octanes.
There are no cataltyic converters in the Sentra but the unleaded fuel that has been developed for South African conditions can be used on our sentra engines without any problems (so they say), but the question is what do you think is the best? Most of the sales men will tell you anything just to sell a car and the petrol stations will tell you anything just to make you to buy their fuel so, experience is the only truth out there.
Yeah, we do still use leaded fuel in SA, but it will be stopped in 2004 according to the laws that were made.
Is there a performance difference between leaded and unleaded fuel of the same rating/level?
What fuel brands do guys have, and by anychance Engen, BP and Shell? and if so which ones, do you find to be better?

Here in the US. we don't have leaded gas anymore, as far as I know.
We do have Shell and BP. Plus a lot of smaller companies.
What is your timing set at from the factory?

I think it was about ten years ago. Remeber "lead ends"? (shell)
I would say use unleaded, the main use of lead is to lubricate the valve seats, I'm sure Nissan would put hardened valve seats in your SR20 just like every other SR20. Leaded gas is also very toxic, I would stay away from it.

ok, point and advice taken guys...
Since I prefer shell more over Engen Petrol, I have filled up using Shell's 95 Unleaded about an hour ago.
Hopefully no peformance loss :-), if there is then I will try out Engen's 97 Unleaded.
