My dyno numbers have been low, and today I finally got around to checking my dist cap, since I know its not a clogged cat. I hadnt done it earlier since it was replaced about 10k ago. Anyways, I took it off, and on one side, the metal sticks out about a quarter inch, on the other side, the metal is flush with the plastic, and there are scrachtes on the plastic, like the rotor is scrapping against it. Is the dist. cap supposed to look like this? Ill probably replace it anyways since its not to much. TIA

I think it is supposed to be like that, I think the plastic is cast that way and it is not rubbing. I replaced mine about a year ago and i thought the stock one was screwed but realized the new one was already the same way.

If it says MADE IN ITALY it's a piece pf crap. Get the one from the factory. Same goes for the rotor. The MADE IN ITALY ones usually are purchased from like Pepboys or Autozone and they suck. Mine didi the same thing and I bought the one from the dealer and it works great.

I believe it's supposed to be that way on a genuine nissan part. I had an autozone dist. cap and as of yesterday I am upgraded to the nissan one. It was like yours, metal contacts sticking out on one side, metal flush on the other.
