Well, you have heard me ask about 100 questions in the last month. I finally picked mine up lastnight. To bad the damn thing ended up having two blown axles!!! That's going to set me back $350. I spent about 10 hours cleaning the engine/body/interior. I think it looks good for a car that's almost 10 years old:)

What do you guys think?

Question: I see your horn buttons are on the sides of the steering wheel. Is that a 93 thing?
On my 94 you just pound on the center.

Thanks for the compliments!! I will assume that is a 93 thing with the buttons for the horn---never even thought to look to be honest. The engine detail took about 2.5 hours overall. I have about evey hose in that engine compartment out and cleaned them with Simple Green. I have a gas powered power washer that puts out more pressure than the car washes. That thing blasted the dirt and grime off of the engine and tranny case with extreme ease. I then went back in with some brushes and some Simple Green in a spray bottle. Once I was satisfied, I washed it down with water, towel dried and then drove it for 30min. Came home, let it cool off and then dove in with wax and polish. Got the dremel out for hard to reach places and then called it quits. Followed up with some spray shine that is supposed to repel dust and dirt. We'll see. At $10 a bottle, it damn well better do what it says:)

Notice the new version 1.8 Valentine One on the windshield? I am a BIG radar detector guy. I have the Passport 8500 and the V1. Check out maxima.org for my writeup on the head to head test:)

I just noticed I hit my 69th post---that's a good number:)

Anyway, someone asked about the paint. Yes, it's new paint. The original owner took it back to Nissan in 95 and complained about fading paint. They easily agreed and repainted the entire car for free. He said the car was in the shop for over a month! They took nearly every body moulding off of the car. I only noticed some very minor chipping around the antenna and the door handles. It's so small that you have to be within 1" to see it. The front bumper will need to be repainted as he tapped someone on the road and it cracked the clearcoat. I work in the insurance industry and I know a claims guy who does body work on the side. He quoted me $50 to shoot the front bumper. I might give him another $50 to shoot the rear too:)

Thanks again!

Nissan painted the car for free?!?!?! Sign me up!

Where in Ohio are you?

Car looks good; nice rims. Did the previous owner do the grille or was that you? Looks a lot like mine does.

I live in Mansfield, Ohio. The prior owner put 16x7.5 "MIM" rims on it along with KYB struts and Suspension Techniques Springs. He also installed 45 series NITTO tires. He did the grill, the DTM exhaust and the chrome shifter knob. The car runs great. I am just pissed about the axles. I wish I could find someone locally to help me put them in. I understand how it's done. I just lack the confidence to do it. I.E.--what happens if I can't finish it!? That's the part that throws me to be honest.

Where are you in Cincy? I travel to Blue Ash for work about once a quarter.

Thanks,

Thanks for the kind words. I have always thought it would be cool to organize a meet in which all we did was clean our cars and then cruise around.......

My car will be in the garage for the next couple of days---it's supposed to rain:)

Hey Shu...Congrats!!

BTW, I'll bet your car has a driver's side airbag? Mine ('94 Ruby Pearl :D ) has a driver's side airbag, with horn activation just like your car. If you look through the windshield at the VIN plate, it'll say something like SRS Airbag.

You did a great job on your detailing. Now it'll be much easier to keep it that way ;) .

You are right---it does say that on the VIN plate. I knew it had an airbag, but didn't know it indicated it with that symbol on the VIN plate.

Yes, the car does look nice now--thank you. I still have to get the axles repaired and then I will take the wheels off and scrub them up on the inside---all that grease flung everywhere on the underside of the car.

Thanks again!
