Just read on another forum that on an upcoming lap day at a Canadian track there is no racing license and/or special equipment needed while there. Is this pretty much the same for US tracks? I'd love to try this but thought I needed to go through the schooling ahead of time. The car is factory original, but with factory size steel wheels with Victoracers.

A helmet is always required.
You may want to get some performance pads and change the brake fluid with high temp stuff. Being brakeless on a road course, is interesting, to say the least. Most clubs/events will require some kind of car inspection. Any leaking fluids, sticky throttles, worn out tires, etc. and they won't let you run. Might want to find out from the organizing body what the deal is first.

Do you have a link to the other forum? You'll get better answers if we know how the event is being marketed. I agree with everything Hank said. I would absolutely flush the brake fluid, and I'd recomend doing it with high temp fluid. You would be suprised how fast old fluid boils!

Well, not really. Been there, done that. Did a four lap enduro at a local autocross club and at the end of first lap and end of the straight everything went away. Was able to get enough mush to avoid a problem but it did wake me up. I kept at it and ended up finishing with laps 2 seconds faster than practice. Champion for a day by 8 seconds too.
The winning also woke me up about my driving before the brakes went away. Must be doing something terribly wrong to pick up 2 sec/lap with virtually nothing under the pedal.
I've lost the link to the page as it was in passing and it wasn't anything I could attend anyway.

And Blizzaks.....
Since it's May 6 we're hoping that Blizzaks won't be required. In fact, we're just getting some snow today for the first time since November! I'm betting it will be like summer on May 6!
http://www.sr20forum.com/showthread.php?t=174220 This could be the lapping day in Canada being discussed. FastNX and myself are organizing it. Helmets are required; must sign a waiver at the track; must be 18 and have a valid driver's license. New brake pads and recent brake fluid change are highly encouraged; basic safety features required (battery must be tied down, no leaking fluids, decent tires, etc.). What is not required is a specialized license to get on track. There will be structure for the day. Anyone close to Ontario, this is Mosport's driver development track. It's not as famous as the main track, but you'll enjoy it. It would be great to see you there. PM me if you've got questions and I'll try to answer them.

Wow. Than EPSentra is planning 6+ months ahead. I assumed it was coming up soon. I have no set-in-stone plans following my 1st school on Feb 11th (that I just signed up to instruct for)

That's the one I saw posted guys. Glad you put a link up here 92NX, I couldn't remember where I saw it. I won't be able to make it there as it's a 1500-2000 miles away. I would like to attend a closer event as there are several within a few hundred miles. Have fun up there guys, and be safe. Loren.

We had to set things up early or we would have not been able to get any track time at Mosport. It gets booked up very fast. And since it's just the two of us we needed to start sharing the news to get some money coming in to cover the track rental downpayment. 10 cars already signed up, room for 20 more! It's a long way to drive from NC, but you'd be welcome!
EPSentra, if you came then you'd probably win the award for driver coming the furthest distance to the track - too bad we don't plan on having any awards!

Lot's of track opportunities on the west coast, particilarly California. I'm guessing you're fairly close to Infineon since you're in Oregon. Check their schedule and sign up with a club that's doing a school. Have fun!
