not a felion, but a catylitic converter. How easy is it to gut one of these? what is inside of them and what cautions should i take?

it is not a good idea to gut the cat. there was an article about it in SCC a few months back i think... if you wanna lose the cat just buy a $30 test pipe

good to know. I can get a test pipe im assuming at any muffler shop right? will it have to be welded?

yeah, any muffler shop should be able to do it, make sure you get one that is flanged and you can take it out and put the cat back for inspection and stuff

There has been Test pipes for sale on EBay for a while, but im not sure if they are still on there. They are like 20 bucks or so

Andreas Miko on forum sells custom cat, first he gut the Cat out than bring it to a muffler shop nearby to weld a pipe in there so the cat is just basically for looks, so the cop won't give * a ticket for that.

I think he sells them for $50, maybe little bit more for shipping

This will free up some horsepower up top RPM.

...stories that guys getr tickets for not having cats on their car. On my na se-r it has a cat with a straight pipe through it and on the turbo its just straight turbo back. I ve heard guys got tickets for it but i highly doubt those fat doughnut eating bastards are gonna get on their knees and inspect for a cat but thats just my opinion i could be worng.......

your right they wont get on there knees but they do have the little mirrors

To answer you ? Piece of cake to gut it out. Take a screw driver and break away the honey comb sh!t in there. Than take it to a Muffler shop and see if they can weld in a staight pipe through it..make sure that the dia' of the pipe is them same as what your running on your car. Works like a charm. I "heard" they charge about $50 here in SoCal--**disclamer*it is illegal to tamper with your Catalytic Converter.;)
