Theres a club for this? Guess im in, Saturday im passing some old person and im bringing it from 3rd gear to shift into 4th and like normal it goes into gear, let out the cluth and the car slams into the rev limiter, i immediatly put the clutch back in and to my dismay what i thought was 4th was actually 2nd. Yea so the engine shut off and i pulled over, I tried to start it again and all it did was turn over and never caught. I probably lost some internals, hopefully didnt crack the block. A very expensive miss shift. I will find out monday afternoon what is wrong with it. I had triple A tow it to my local nissan dealer. As for now, all my money i had for bolt ons is now going to internals or a new engine. Maybe it will be cheaper to go DET. Funny really, about a year ago my friend bought his SE-R white, 96, 5 speed, 2 weeks later same thing happend to him, brought it from 3rd to 2nd at redline. I'm not the best manual driver, but i learned how to drive with a manual, and my frist car was a manual and have driven one ever since and have never missed a shift this bad. My friend is the same way. Driver error most likely, but has anyone ever done this?

I think this has been brought up on the mailing list years ago.

Your case may be thrown rocker arms from over-revving.

Try searching at se-r-list.org. use the word "mis-shift" or something to that effect.

That certainly would be cheaper than spun bearings.

Damn Brian! I'll barely have time to get my garage setup for the swap :-P

Dude - call Jason G. Young, tell him you want everything for the swap and that I sent ya.

We'll swap that mug out.

Chris

LOL I know at least 7-8 people that have done that including me. More than likely all you did was brake a few rocker arms. maybe messed up your cams. The damage normaly stays in the top of the motor.

my noise isnt noticable at idle, just while revving it. i took the valve cover off, everything looks to be in tact. and it doesnt feel like there is any power loss. guess its time to park it awhile. Brian
