: What to use to grind down caliper. ??????
SmoothDaddyFig 05-12-2002, 09:16 PM I purchased the B13 13'' wheels anyways and I want them to fit up front.
I see that the only thing stopping it from fitting are the upper and lower caliper bolt housings. The rim goes on but doesnt SPIN due to the bolt housings.
What can I use to grind these down just a pubic hair????

Is that a real tool?
I would hate to walk into an Autoparts store asking:
" excuse me, can you point me to the Bastard files?"
:eek:

LMFAO!!!! :D
Figgy, you aint right.....
Rittmeister 05-12-2002, 09:54 PM Yes, there is a tool called a bastard file. It's designed to cut both ways, instead of only one.

Go to Lowes/Home Depot:) :)
Steve
Bowlcut 05-12-2002, 10:39 PM Yes its called a bastard file, actualy there is a single cut or double cut bastard file. The double if you look at it has hashes going both ways forming diamonds
/////
\\\\\
Single cut bastards are just cut one way. These are for more controll and less material removal. They end up with a cleaner surface than the double cuts
///////
Then what I would do is just get a stone for your drill. Just buy a good one cause the one i bought sucked and went out of round pretty quickly. And at that point they are basicly useless. The other option is pull the calp off and take it to the bench grinder. I wouldnt use a drimel as the ammount of grinding needed would take for ever Id guess.
SmoothDaddyFig 05-12-2002, 10:55 PM Thank you gents.
If my brakes explode I'll keep ya'll posted!!!
Time to use my $25 Home Depot gift card.
Pretty White 05-13-2002, 10:57 AM Why don't you just put the rim on the car. Eventually either the rim will wear down the caliper or the caliper will grove into the rim enough till it clears. Or better yet get some B13 1.6 brakes. Then it is a go! :rolleyes: :confused: :rolleyes: :confused: :rolleyes: Or do what some guys I know do. Cap off the front brake lines and use HD brakes in the rear. Remove the calipers and walla!

I used a 4" die grinder to grind away AD22VF calipers so they would fit under my stock B13 SE-R wheels. Took me about 15-20 minutes.

lol...............or bus brakes. :cool:
I think Im sticking to the grinder/bastard file route.
Pretty White 05-13-2002, 09:04 PM Trust papa. You don't want bus brakes. You would have to convert from hydrolic to air. That a PITA. Unless you plan on swapping to a Lincoln Mark IV-up suspension you need a 150lb compressor.

Antonio, you had to grind the calipers I sold you? I thought they were ground enough by me to fit....LOL

SmoothDaddy trying to save more weight... w/ 13" wheels ;)
If you wear a helmet all the time you could take out the front windshield, all the windows in that case so you don't create a sail.... you could also throw up after every meal... hmmm... are most parts of the frame really that important? :D
I think the wheels fit just fine... He just want to grind some useless metal off and this way it gives him an excuse to ask a normal question... like... "uhhh if I have a 13" wheel... how much can I grind off w/o the caliper being unsafe? I mean... because of the wheels and all... :confused: " :D

This is funny shit
skyliner 09-16-2003, 10:22 PM Smooth I tried this with XE 13" steels when I totalled my first SE-R. I wanted to keep the factory SE-R wheels. I filed and cut and ground on the caliper and the wheel still couldn't get enough clearence to get them on. So good luck......if you have AD22s "forget it"
Travis E.
Edit: Just take the fronts calipers off and plug the lines, your car is so light already you probably only need the rears..... :eek:

At the time I just wanted to create an awesome BURNOUT video with the 13'' alloys.
I gave up after bastard filing for an hour.
I still have the 13'' alloys in the back.
I have better 14'' Miata 9lb wheels up front.

HaulinSentra 09-17-2003, 05:31 PM Are the 13" sentra alloys less than the miata 9 lb'ers?
