I'm looking into purchasing a G20 for a highway car (commuter if you will) to drive to school and back. One of the particularly better examples I have seen in my price range ($2000 or less) was a 1993 G20 automatic that was my boss' car. It has 172K on it (yikes, I know), but has been meticulously maintained since day 1 (my boss is the original owner). So basically, my question for you guys is: what should I look for in an SR20 car and is it worth it at this point to consider it? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to our forum. As with any used car purchase I would pay $50 and have a mechanic you trust do a complete check of the car. You may need to pay extra to get a compression test. If you are mechanically inclined and have a good report from the mechanic I would not be afraid of an sr20 G20 with that mileage. Others may give you some specifics to look into on that car. I do know that the bushings on the front control arms tend to wear out and can be difficult to replace. But, what bushings aren't difficult to replace.

Edit: G20 with auto's tend to have oiling problems on the cams because they have been driven to easily.
