My car is cranking but not turning over. When it does start i have to rev it high just to keep it from stalling which it does anyway. I can't get it to start and stay running. Anyone? anyone?

How has it been running for the last week?

the car has been running fine. it was pouring out today and i ran through some gigantic puddles. In the rain at about 9:30 i changed the clogged fuel filter and the car ran fair for about tem minutes in the parking lot. them it just stalled. hasn't started back up yet. Could this be a fuel pump? i have a slight vacum leak on my intake because i bought a breather but haven't plugged the vacum line hole yet. The car has never not started on the first try the entire time i had owned it. One of my friends whom is a mechanic said it could be a crank sensor but he was half asleep and i was just describing it over the phone. Anyone?

Any chance you have someone close by that you could try swapping the MAF out with?

Sounds to me kinda like the MAF may have died on it or you mave a major leak in the intake after the MAF but before the throttle body.

Sounds like water got into your intake like it did my old car when I washed it with a hose. YOU KNOW YOU WERE HITTING THOSE PUDDLES ON PURPOSE!!!!

actually there was no way in but through puddles that went up to my door. i dont know i am gonbna go back up there in 30 mins and clean off the throttle body. Hopefully it starts. You would think there would be some warning if it was something big but there just wasn't.

well, i went up to the car, took off the breather filter and replaced the vacum line to the intake. i just sprayed the inch of crap of my throttle body and wiped it with a towel. The car then starteed up on the first try and has run perfectly. I am not sure what the exact reason for not starting was but i now have an unclogged fuel filter and a clean throtle body. Oh, and a car that is running.

Its that damn throttle body...when it got rainy...my old max did the same thing..and so did my old sentra. Then I read some stuff and some symptoms and realized it was just a dirty TB. Once I cleaned it my cars ran a lot better and never gave me starting issues again. The would turn over...but then the idle would drop to zero and it would stall. Now I clean the TB within the first week of purchasing the car....and I clean a few other things. After 60 K all TBs need some kind of cleaning....and its simple;)

Even us accountants can do it.

Sounds electrical ,spray inside the distributor, plug wire ends with wd40 that should dry it out.
