just wondering what everyone thinks of zex nos kits. I'm considering buying a kit from them for my 2oosx-se-r ,was thinking of a 75 shot.also the nos kit will work fine with a stock ecu or do i have to buy the jwt one(going to buy that anyways).thanks ahead of time for all your responses
IMHO, Zex is a waste of time. But now I'm a wet man.. You can always upgrade a NOS system.

if you want to drop over 1sec of your quarter for $500, then I suggest to do it. It is really really safe at 55shot, at 75shot I would suggest running a larger fuel jet and/or get an adj. fuel press. regulator and up the fuel pressure 5psi or so, just my .02. I ran the 55shot in my 2001 SE(sr20de) for 6months+, 2full bottles went into my engine. Went from a 17.2 to a 15.5. Well worth the money. You really need to get colder plugs than stock too, I would suggest BKR6E-11 since they are $2 a piece or less, the PLatinums I bought(PFR6G-11) where wayyy too expensive($7 a piece)and the first set fouled out *** I ran too much timing and other crap,

BTW - I think you would be fine to run the 75shot at a 2degree retard with a larger fuel jet and the TPS at 4.35V, although I would not ever reccommend it for street use like this.

thanks bro for the help. just wondering if i can run the jwt chip without retarding the timing.so if i run the 75 shot i need the add the adjustable fuel regulator (think weapon-r makes one)and to add larger fuel injectors.the zex site makes installing their system so easy they dont say anything about if you are planning to run 75 shot that i would need that extra stuff, thats the main reason i joined this forum because of helpful and knowledgable people like you.thanks again:D

I would definetely recommend it. For 500 bucks I went from Low 15's with bolt ons to low 14's. You can use the stock ECU. I ran the 55 shot pill and ran maybe....hmmm...20-30 bottles worth. Just make sure to go at least 1 heat range colder on the plugs ( Coppers ) and set your timing back to 15 degrees ( if you advanced you timing ) The only reason im not running the Zex kit any longer is because I went with boost. As far as running the JWT ECU. You could possibly run into complications. I'll be honest I ran a few races with the nitrous and the JWT ECU ( NA program ) but this was at night during the winter here in N. Cali. (bottle pressure was fairly low ) Im sure if it would have been warmer I would have probably ran into some issues. Just be cautious and understand what percautions to take before using the nitrous and you'll be alright.

no problem, The Weapon-R adj. press. regulator is suppopsed to be crap. I would only reccommend the Aeromotive unit, or the AEM unit. The Aeromotive unit can be had for $170 or less shipped to you, and if you really want that 75 shot, that's what I would reccomend w/o having to upgrade to the larger injectors. I am not sure what the duty cycle would be with the 75 shot, but it would be pretty close to them leaning out.

P.S. Hopefully someone with more injector knowledge can chime in on this.

thanks for the info guys. I thought that the jwt chip wouldnt make that much of a differance if i was using the bottle, so maybe i wont get the chip (good because it costs like 500 bills)or maybe i'll have to request a special program for nos . and i do know they sell one to but its like 1500 .thanks again everyone who responded.

Skip The ZEX kit if you're serious about it.
They are nice kits in general, but not fool proof and people can have problems with them just like any other kit on the market.
I would suggest a Nitrous Express kit for under $500 from
www.nitrouswarehouse.com or The Nitrous Work kit for $469 from www.rpmoutlet.com
As for running advance timing, instead of the JWT Nitrous program, how about getting their basic ECU program and buying a good ignition from Holley, Accell, Mallory or MSD? That way you'll be able to retard the timing on the bottle and return it back to the program's timing curver when the bottle is not being used.
Most of these ignition go for less than $500 and you get RPM switches and 2 step rev-limits and some other useful features.
Got any other questions e-mail me.
