: Se-R the new hot car?
Jackson Diamond 05-15-2002, 06:15 PM I have een more 200sx ser's and classics in the last month than i saw in the last two years. Is this the new Si. All these kids are coming up to me hey what yo all got done to that?, how'd you do that. I give the one word answer RESEARCH. Give them my number and say if they got any questions give me a call. Anyone else experience this too?
ser20de 05-15-2002, 06:24 PM yes ive noticed it too.. in the past few months i have seen more teenage white boys in new spec V's or other SE-Rs than ever in my town. I think people are just starting to realize the potential of the engine(or the label  ) on a large scale. people hopefully are just getting sick of honda because everyone has teh same civic with a b16 or 18 motor...
WhiteSER 05-15-2002, 06:36 PM Hype will make people buy anything.
SE-Rican 05-15-2002, 06:52 PM I have experienced this as well. Its funny about 1 year ago I would go to the local hangout and I would be the only SE-R there. All these Hondas/Acuras and only my little SE-R by itself. :(
Now in the present there are SE-R's everywhere. I now have the luxuary of hanging out with like 8 SE-R owners every Saturday night. Thats only the people I know. I am glad to see that people are actually starting to realize what the SR20 is all about!! :D
Pretty White 05-15-2002, 06:56 PM Lets hope that people realize that 10:1 motors are only $500 as compared to the B18C of over $2000. I don't want SE-R's to be up there with the Integra as the #1 stolen car in America.
jnk5y 05-15-2002, 07:32 PM I can tell ya'll how i got into the se-r even though i don't own one yet...
I own an old non se-r sentra and when i hear about a new sentra se-r spec v and see the pictures and hear how cheap it's going to be i of course get into it. I looked at other cars and none of them looked as good as the se-r. I found a forum where they talked about the spec v and speculated about the engine and handling. Once it came out and the hype died down I decided to look into the old se-r that people mentioned from time to time. That's how i ended up here learning all i can and hoping one day when i have a job i can go ahead and afford a classic and finally have a car that rocks! :)

I was hoping the classic would remain anonymous. More fun that way and less chance of it becoming the hot ticket for grand theft auto.
Its311Pete 05-15-2002, 08:34 PM I've notice the upcoming of SR20 cars in the last year or so around here.
I no of 3 new SR20 cars in my area. I don't live in a very large area either.
I was at a local race track for some Saturday nite racing and seen a Black 200sx SE-R with a HotShot liscense plate frame.
Finally people are realizing that those Honda's suck even with normal mods !!!
Black93 05-15-2002, 09:53 PM I think im gonna throw my badges back on my car... im a little disappointed. i see spec V drivers from time to time but they dont seem to recognize their classic brethren. It IS a shame. I think im gonna get some real flashy 16s or something so i can get some recognition. the whole sleeper thing isnt so great when the people you DO want to notice you dont.

I'm with you Jim. Although it is kind of nice that the SE-R (SR20) is being recognized for it's potential but I'd rather stay anonymous. Like Greg Perry's handle "SERPRISE!" :)
Storm88000 05-15-2002, 10:04 PM Just let the band wagon jumpers have their fun for now.
I've had a B13 since March of 1998 and that was before anyone really even knew what an SE-R was (well besides the very small SE-R community at that time)
I'm on my 3rd SE-R and I'm still contemplating getting another B13 cause and ditching my SE cause I don't care for my B14 anymore.
Chrissy 05-15-2002, 10:35 PM I didn't know what a SE-R was until about 3 years ago. I thought my little auto XE was the shit! haha! I'm glad I found this board which made me want a SE-R. After I looked past all the trash talking about the B15sentra board of course. ;)
All the Spec-Vs I seem to pass on the road so I can flsh my badge don't even realize what I am driving. It is a shame. They are a whole different breed.
sentraturbo 05-15-2002, 10:39 PM i've noticed it too... in fresno, i use to be one of the few se-r's, if not the only one, at the local street races... now, i believe i see about 9 se-r's, including mine, at the street races...
Nissan240SX 05-15-2002, 11:51 PM I agree i have owned my 240SX for a year now and when i first started no one in my area had a Nissan except for the trucks. And then all of the sudden they come out of the blue when a few of my friends decided to show some honda's the awesome power of the Nissans. There is only one thing to say about Nissan Power. We float like a butterfly We Sting like a bee. Is it your to slow or we just that fast.
eliterit 05-16-2002, 12:51 AM even though i've only had my classic for 3 months, i would rather not have people know what i have and keep se-rs low profile. I just love seeing those honda boys stare at amazement when i unexpectedly pass them up. Now that is a priceless expression.
Chris93SER 05-16-2002, 02:30 AM Speaking of grand theft auto...
Acura Integra hottest car for thieves:

NismoNx2000 05-16-2002, 09:05 AM You guys are forgetting about us nx2000 drivers.....you guys dont get recognition in your classics and b14's with actually have the se-r badge, well, what about us...people just look at me with a strange look trying to figure out what im driving. And forget about it, anyone ive come across with a new 99-01 se or 02 se-r has no clue that im part of the se-r brotherhood. But, at least i have the advantage of being an sr20 sleeper. :)

Too true. Since I got my car repainted, I don't have any badges or stickers on the back either.
Funny, I was at a lapping event on the weekend, and I thought I'd see how sticky the new 215 width T1-S tires were, so I dropped the car at 5000 rpm. It spun a tiny bit and hooked up right away.
Apparently a whole bunch of people came running over after I left and they were asking the marshal "what the hell was that?!"
The car screams now with a 7800 rpm redline and the cams, too. Sounds great! Very addictive.
If you're curious, it was Nelson Track:

Oh, and I have a full day race school (8 AM - 5:30 PM) next Friday on the full track (bottom left) <VBG>
Buckwilly 05-16-2002, 10:45 AM (sniff sniff)....I didnt get an se-r till this year because I never found one for the right price. Now that there are some that are over 10 years old...the price is very reasonable. And if you find one with low miles...you have a goldmine IMO. Give the V-specers time....they will start learning. I honestly dont care what people think of my car..if anything. And I dont identify with V-specs either...they do look good in my rear view...I can pretend I am racing a mini-skyline with that grill. Anyone screw with a v-spec with their classic yet? Fun fun fun. Especially when the v-spec is aqua green.....bllleech.
