well, i managed to complete the task (installing JDM fuel rail/injectors/fpr onto a usdm sr20), but now my car runs like ass. the idle doesnt sound too bad, but when i give it gas, it sounds like a wrx, and then stumbles a little but doesnt die. sooooo where did i fuck up?

thanks,
burton

edit: took it around the block, and it definitely has way less power than before. so is one of the new injectors crap or something??
edit #2: just for background info, the reason that i did this in the first place was because my car was running sort of rough and was a little stumbly in the lower rpms. it seems like that problem is better, but it sounds like a wrx and has way less power. again, any help would be great...
edit #3: and i dont see any fuel leaks

What does sounding like a WRX have to do with anything? Have you unplugged each of the injectors while idliling to see if it idles worse or stays the same on a particular cylinder? Thats where I would start. Do the same for your spark plug wires.

ok ill try to keep it short. bought the car in august 05. it had the surge and hesitation problem, in december of 05 i took to to beaverton nissan to get the problem diagnosed. they told me that i needed an 02 sensor and they said one or two of my injectors were partially clogged/dirty. with that info, i went to napa and bought a new 02 sensor. installed it, and it took care of the majority of the problem.... but not alllll of it. it was good enough though that i drove it for a year without being too bothered. after i shift driving normally, it would sputter a tiny bit and and when i would come to a stop some times it the rpms would get a little shakey. when driving more aggressively, the car ran perfect though.

so it was always in the back of my head that i needed to do something about the injectors. a good local deal found me and i bought a fuel rail/injectors/fpr off of a JDM engine. this was a couple months ago. i finally was decided to install the goods today. after plenty of trouble with fuel lines and clips, i finally got everything swapped over. started the car, it turned over for maybe 3 seconds (while im assuming fuel was making its way through the new stuff), and then it started up. it sounded a little funny, and when i hit the gas, it had sort of a womp womp womp womp WRX-type sound to it. i let it sit running in the driveway for a few while i watched the engine to make sure fuel wasnt leaking anywhere. the idle sounded.... alright. so i took it for a test drive around the block, and it definitely has less power and the womp womp womp womp sound. a couple of loud exhaust pops after shifts, but the post-shift hesitation was gone... it reminded me of the power loss/ sound of a vw van that i to disconnect one plug wire in order to get it to pass DEQ.

so im not sure whats wrong. i eyeballed everything and things look good, and i dont know what the problem is. before i installed the new stuff, i looked at the bottoms of the injectors and the 4 little holes were clear on all 4 injectors.

BUMP! this is still a problem, does any one have any ideas? i just went out there to try what sentraser suggested, started the car up, and i just had a bad feeling about pulling plug wires/disconnecting injectors with the car running. im really sorry to be second guessing your advice, especially since youve been here so long, but i just couldnt get myself to pull anything. is it really ok to do that?

and also, my exhaust now smells funny. it smells like the old beater cars my dad has around the yard. if i had to guess, ide say it smells sort of fuelish. this is just since i did the injector/fuel rail/fpr swap.

im 60 miles away from my mechanic and i really dont want to have to try and drive all the way up there with my car running like this.
