Which MSD ignition system do you guys recommend? Any other companies make good ones? THanks

Depends on what your planning on doing... and if you may upgrade at a later time...
I'm going to be using the digital 6 and know a few people that use it and say it's a good choice, plus is good for higher boost...
I'mll be pushing around 330 hp, and I know Louis Anaya has it on his car which will be pushing around 450+ hp or so.

how about with t25 stock bb. Can the stock ignition system keep up?

The stock ignition can hold 350 whp. Is it recommended? No. I'd say if you are running more than 15 psi, get a MSD. With a T25, stock ignition works great.

Yes, my car is living proof the stock ignition is fine at 350whp as long as you are not running H20 injection, which seems to need more spark.

This weekend we will see if the stock ignition can handle 400hp =) More importantly, we'll see if my MOTOR can handle 400 whp, everyone pray for my baby. Thanks!

Frank,

What size turbo were you using, how much boost were you pushing and on what octane were you using, when you made that 350?

PS Good luck with the 400

Thanks Mike.

It's the trusty old t3/t04e with 0.82 exhaust housing, 50 trim compressor, standard ball bearing. It made the 350 at 20-22 psi of boost, with C16 super gasoline and full 3" exhaust.

Only other power modifications are the 2 pulley set, JDM intake cam, Zex flywheel, and 6 puck clutch. I'm pretty sure the car would have made 400hp at that boost level with the JWT cams. But I guess we'll see this weekend!

Good luck Frank. I'd love to see pictures of your setup some day.

Unfortunately I don't have a digi camera, but here's a pic from the End of Summer SE-R BBQ. You can see Shaggy's car right next to it(made the cover of SCC 400hp club).

I've got the 9am spot, bright and early. But if the car is still running, maybe I will try again in the afternoon =)

I'm ready to see that car of years belt out 300hp also! :)

Frank,

Did you notice any difference with the zex flywheel vs the stock fly? I've been curious about that.

I defeinitely did, the car seemed snappier and more responsive. IIRC it only weight like 10.5 lbs or something.

When I took my car to STreets of Willow a couple of months ago, Rob Cadle drove it and couldn't believe how great the throttle response was. I mean, its laggy, but once in boost, the throttle response is so crisp and instant.

oh, frank, you want throttle response, you should check out the del ghetto T25 duo! well, at least when terrin's fitful car decides to work correctly. it is awful moody.
