Ilm planning to wax my car this weekend
and Ilm wondering which is the best car
wax I could get at autozone. I don't want
to spend more than $15 on the car wax.
Also what would you recommend to use to
clean my rims? THANKS (:

Obviously you know to wash your car before waxing, but if you take the extra step of Claybarring the car after washing but before waxing, you'll get improved results.

The wax not hard but how you wax your car is harder . I don't know much but at TH Mcguir gold class is very awesome

Zymol is thee best on the market.

The Maguires system does real well. Three different bottles.

Meguiars NXT Tech Wax is very good, and you can get it at Autozone for less than $15.

It's synthetic and very easy to work work with. Also, it doesn't dust up and turn your car white like most waxes. Best I've used for the money.

i hate that synthetic wax crap. PITA to apply and remove.

go buy a clay bar system and do that first, then do the meguiers 3 step system with paint cleaner and polish then wax. buy the tiny 5 inch random orbitle buffer to use with the cleaner and polish and apply the wax by hand. and it will come out flawless trust me.

I perfer the Meguires High Tech Yellow 26 paste. Easy to apply and remove. And last alot longer than the other waxes Ive used.

the clay bar and Meguires is the best. The Zymol stuff is uber expensive to get the actual detailing stuff.

Meguires FTW!
Then again for a quick/easy shine I use Turtle Wax Express Shine spray wax. :)

I used to own professional detailing equipment, and what I can tell you is this:

For the most part, it does not matter what brand of wax you use if you stay within the same tier of detailing products. There is only a small % of people that will bicker about off the shelf waxes vs. the expensive, internet-ordered bottle of X brand..

I personally started my sealing phase with a polymer sealant and topped it off with Carnauba wax.

This is JMO.

Process>Product! Clay, Polish, Wax.

Either the Meguiar's 3-step or the Mother's 3-step for OTC. If you are just going to wax, the Meguiar's NXT is good and hides swirls a bit and is cheap/easy to use.

For more expensive non-OTC stuff, Menzerna Polishes are good. I have been using Poorboy's for polishes and Souveran Paste Wax, for cheaper wax Meguiars #26 is very good. Collinite Insulator 845 Wax is good looking and lasts a very long time, usually found at boat stores.

I am also using a High-Speed Makita Polisher with foam pads. The Porter Cable DA polisher is also very good, and has a faster learning-curve.

Meguiars for the cheap stuff, Zymoil if you can find it on sale though. Zaino FTW on any wax any day of the week if you want to spend the money and time. my car looks almost chrome when its clean.

i honestly have to say brand means nothing.
its all in how much work you personally put in.

rinse
bug and tar remover(let sit on spots for about 10 minutes)

i use w/e soap is on sale (turtle wax in the orange bottle was the best so far for me)
http://www.autozone.com/images/products/twx/twxt-81003.jpg
dry clean with absorber
basic turtle wax wax with the circle sponge applicator by hand
http://www.autozone.com/images/products/twx/twxt-222003.jpg
go over car in circle movements in 4 sections, letting each section sit for 5 min before buffing out with a microfiber cloth(autozone, 3 bucks tops)
1. front bumper, head lights, hood, front fenders
2. left side door, window(s), side skirt, mirror
3. right side door, window(s), side skirt, mirror
4. rear bumper, trunk, wing, tail lights, rear fenders

plastic x the clear plastics

and thats it.

i think this kind of shine does shows my efforts.

ZYMOL paste is the best shit..have a detailer do it for u,if u already didnt wax ur car,but if u next time have someone do it..its a pain in the ass if uve never detailed cars before...
