: Getting Rid of my Intercooler. Now I have no intercooler on my turbo
snowballz 01-18-2007, 10:02 PM so im going with methnol/water injection instead of using an intercooler. any one else ever try that? i dont know how well its gonna work. guess i will find out. they say it makes your gas 120+ octane when you just run 93 octane pump gas. and it cools the charge just as good as an intercooler. what do you all think of it?
scortch99th 01-18-2007, 10:05 PM is it a daily?
will it spray 24/7 ?
sounds a little more expensive?
snowballz 01-18-2007, 10:12 PM its only 300 dollars, it only sprays during boost
and yeah its a daily
a few gallons will last a week
and all you use is the methnol/water windshield washer fluid
so it will only cost about 5 bucks a week driving it 50 miles a day
Lemute 01-18-2007, 10:14 PM an intercooler will cost 0 bucks a week
snowballz 01-18-2007, 10:16 PM methnol injection cools the air more than a turbo. it will run better. ill get more horses and i wont have to buy race gas anymore
Lemute 01-18-2007, 10:25 PM my buddy has methanol/water injection on his Stealth TWin Turbo, its suped up to the tits, and has a swwet fmic, and methanal/water injection, but its programmed to inject at certain (high) boost levels.
its a good idea, but it can fail, or hurt ur engine, not that boost doesnt' already. lol

Keep the intercooler and add the akly injection. Then retune the car on the alky.

LMMFAO !
stick with the fmic for a daily man, imho.
stratton.
daveracer 01-19-2007, 12:20 AM Stick with the FMIC, seriously.
snowballz 01-19-2007, 12:29 AM no this is what i mean. i want to get a pipe that i can disconnect on the fmic, then hook another tube up for race day for the methnol injection
Dr.Fowler 01-19-2007, 12:32 AM I'm with Dave... Why the heck would you want to dump something from your setup that is know and tried and true and completely costless? Also, why not keep the FMIC and add the meth/h20 on top? I guess I just don't get your reasoning... Is it that you don't want people to see your front mount? I'm a little confused on that...
Yellow4g63 01-19-2007, 12:40 AM no this is what i mean. i want to get a pipe that i can disconnect on the fmic, then hook another tube up for race day for the methnol injection
Why don't you run them both? The meth will cool the air but not enough to replace a fmic on high boost. Put the jet after the intercooler to chill the air even more than it would by itself.:biggthump
Coheed 01-19-2007, 12:50 AM Be careful running the methanol water mix of washer fluid. No matter which brand you buy there is some kind of detergent in there as well. The detergent is not harmful at all to the engine, but it can and will gum up the BOV. You can ust the washer fluid, but you have to have the system cleaned 1 time a month or so to keep deposits from forming. 1 week a month you should try to run pure methanol and water to help clean everything.
Cliff 01-19-2007, 01:03 AM I agree with others in this thread. Keep the FMIC. Use the alky injection to aid in cooling. I don't think a meth/water injection w/o FMIC is going to keep you cool at high boost, as previously stated. Why not just have the alky/water spray the intercooler when in boost, to aid in cooling the air charge?
snowballz 01-19-2007, 01:13 AM everyones wondering why i dont wanna use my intercooler race day. basicly we go to the track. drive around it till we find someone we wanna race, point at them. if they shake there head then its on, well i wanna drive around, looking like i dont thave a turbo, that way i can just hand peoples asses to them. because we get 10 races to start out with, then after that every race we win we take the other persons slip and that gains us another race. i wanna go there. let people think its a stock sentra. then smoke the shit outta them. because everyone there is basicly stock. and if your turboed you cant get a race there with anyone unless its some supercharged 600 horse power mustang that ill never beat in my life no matter what. sounds kinda dumb but if you win there then you get big time cash =]
snowballz 01-19-2007, 01:16 AM also i forgot to add. the alch water injection is made so you dont have to run an intercooler. mainly used on superchargers. rippmods.com uses it on all there cars without an intercooler. that way u dont need one. saves cash. *** alch injection is only nearly 250 bucks- 300 max

this is a pic of a guy around here, tom...this is a race car and uses no intercooler just methanol. last i heard he was running 11:1 comp ratio @ 40psi of boost and it holds up fine. dunno how it will be with daily driving etc...
B14 Se-Rious 01-19-2007, 01:26 AM methnol injection cools the air more than a turbo
a turbo doesnt cool air, it compress it and heats it up.
Why not just have the alky/water spray the intercooler when in boost, to aid in cooling the air charge?
water/alky injection doesnt spray the intercooler, it sprays inside the cold side of i/c piping before the TB. and it is VERY effective in cooling charge air.
alky/water injection and intercooler sprayers are 2 different things.

he could just spray after the bov...
