The vintage VW world is madder. I guess anybody who sticks with a rear engined aircooled at least deserves credit for originality. The idea is abandoned now( even by porsche) but I still love my 66 Kombi.

also owning a Vintage VeeDub I can admit to being a slight bit odd.....the watercooled people i've met seem a bit cocky, and more brand snobby. the Aircooled people just really dig the vehicles

porsche didn't abandon it because they didnt like it.. and VW still makes the original air-cooled

only reason why air-cooled cars no longer exist in the USA is emissions. its damn near impossible to make an air-cooled engine meet current *.s. emissions reqs.

the fact that porsche could make a 400HP air-cooled twin turbo 6 cylinder actually meet those emissions regulations in 1998 is an amazing testament to their technological prowess
