Anyone near a Mitsubishi dealer?

I recently purchased a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander. I'd like to get some OEM accessories for it that aren't available in the US. Can someone find out if they can get the accessories? The dealer (or you) would need to ship to the US.

I'd be a huge favor!

Here is a link to the accessory page:

Thanks alot,

Steve

Seeing as they are on the Mitsu Australia website, all Aussie dealers would be able to get the parts (whether they are in stock or they need to order them in is another story).

Which accessories are you after? If they are bulky items the shipping will probably make the parts very costly for you/possibly not worthwhile (I found that out trrying to get some Hyperco's shipped here :( ).

I'd be happy to look into it for you if you like.

Thank you very much for the response! :biggthump

These are the items I'm looking at:

Tailgate protector
Sports mesh front grill (diamond white pearl paint)
Bonnet protector
Chrome door edge moulding
Alloy nudge bar w/ the front driving lights
Aluminum accent plate (silver color)

Thanks again,

Steve

I'll get you some prices, and try to get some indication of the size of the packages, and we'll go from there. I should be able to get pricing on Saturday :biggthump

OK, got some pricing for you......you may not like it, these are true $tealership prices:

Tailgate protector AU$200 (~US$155)
Sports mesh front grill (diamond white pearl paint) AU$319 (~US$247)
Bonnet protector AU$70 (~US$55)
Chrome door edge moulding AU$103 (~US$80)
Alloy nudge bar AU$544 (~US$422)
front driving lights (includes wiring kit) AU$354 (~US$275)
Aluminum accent plate (silver color) AU$259 (~US$201)

As you can see, it's all very expensive (cars cost ALOT more here than they do in the states.....the Pontiac GTO for example, which was built HERE IN AUSTRALIA, is about 30+% cheaper in the US!!).

The guy I spoke to did say he would do a discount if alot of the stuff was bought, but not sure how much (perhaps 5 - 10%??).

I didn't enquire about the size of the packages yet, but i'd say that shipping for the nudge bar would be ridiculous (i'm not sure that Australia post would take a package that large at all, and couriers such as UPS/DHL would be too expensive). Aus post requires that the greatest length of any parcel cannot exceed 105 cm, and the "girth" (the total length around the other two dimensions) cannot exceed 140 cm - which would probably make the nudge bar too big.

I took a punt on what the box size might be for some of the other small items (like the accent plate, door mouldings, sports grill, etc., as long as none of those exceed 105 cm  ), and for the size I guessed shipping is AU$179.40 (US$139), plus insurance, plus duty/taxes at your end.

Honestly, i'm not sure that it would be worthwhile for you, but let me know what you think. Doesn't look viable to me :(

Wow! Thank you so much for looking into this for me!

Is there a way you can ask the dealer if he can ship the parts to another dealership (U.S.) without going through all the hassle of shipping it to me? Maybe that'll be easier? Those prices aren't that bad, but the shipping is what concerns me.

After reading this thread i have come up with a thought...
as i use to work for a dealer (honda) they would not be able to send it to another dealer...
With what u were saying about the shipping not being over 105cm u are correct... BUT what u could do is pack the goods on a Pallet or skid... this is alot cheaper than sending the packages all seperatly and run the risk of them braking...
Just pack them as best as possible and get some plastic and wrap the whole lot up....

my 2c...

You're right, no Mitsu dealer will be able to export, as they all buy their parts from Mitsubishi Australia and none of them have any need to import/export themselves.

The problem with any of us trying to buy parts and export them ourselves is that Aus Post won't handle any packages with a dimension gretaer than 105 cm, which includes pallets/skids. We would need to get in touch with a freight forwarder and ship it that way.....very expensive, even for LCL (less than container-load) sea freight. You can't send anything through Aus Post regardless of packaging if it exceeds 105 cms in any one dimension.

Postage is always going to be the biggest problem of this....
Blackb13 - pay for two return tickets and nx-r_wwaz and myself will come over with no clothes in our bags, just your parts and then u can send us home... lol

Maybe AAE (australian air express)
DHL , FED EX would be able to do it...

yeah your best bet would probably be FED EX.

I'm down for your suggestion EJD001!

Air freighting these parts, either fed-ex/dhl/whatever, would cost a fortune! NX$paniard shipped a carmate bumper from Sydney to Cali, and I beleive the freight cost and tax/duty was more than the cost of the bumper.......unsurprisingly he said he would never do that again!

I don't see a way to make this work for large items i'm afraid blackb13.

What's a TB bumper? Doesn't look like Mitsu Australia has it listed:

http://www.ralliart.com.au/RalliartVehicles/EvolutionIX.aspx?item=3

Wouldn't be able to freight it anyway!

On another note, your user name always reminds me of SR20BOY :shudders:

If this has not happened yet, I can source the above parts at trade discount price(about 15~30% cheaper than retail) which could make importing them a much cheaper proposition?

US$620 for this:
Sports mesh front grill (diamond white pearl paint)
Chrome door edge moulding
Aluminum accent plate (silver color)
Front driving lights (includes wiring kit)

The bonnet protector could be fitted diagonally into a box and still retain the 105cm ruling for an extra US$45 and freight for all of the above would be quite cheap... if it was a birthday present ;)

Whoa!

I haven't checked this thread in a while. What other accessories can you get?

Get me a part number on any other accesories and I will get you a price for the lot. If it fits in one box, it will obviously be cheaper on freight.
