: Clutch, Pressure Plate, Flywheel Suggestions
NissanGuy01 05-16-2002, 11:56 PM I am putting a used primera SR20DE in my car, because I had a rod bearing to go out in my stock motor. I figured, while i have the engine out and am busting my knuckles, I might as well replace the clutch and pressure plate, and probaly even put my flywheel on a brake lathe or buy a lightened flywheel. I hope to withing 4-6 months put an SR20DET in my car. I am wanting something what will work great with a street driven na car, but will have enuff balls to grip about 300hp. I am kinda new to the SR20 engine and tranny; so any recommendations are welcome. Also Price is a HUGE factor. The only reason i am swapping the sr20de in right now, is because I have to have some tranportation to get me to and from work so I can have money for an SR20DET!
NismoSER 05-17-2002, 12:16 AM Personally, I'm going with a JWT pressure plate and stock disc. THat setup should be arriving from Courtesy any second now :) I've heard many good things about it.
For a clutch with a heavier pedal feeling, some recommend the ACT HD setup.
The difference in price is about $40, with the ACT being more expensive. I believe they will both handle the turbo swap you plan. Good luck!
SR20DEVIL(T) 05-17-2002, 12:44 AM I am going to be running the ACT NX9-XT00 (rated handling of 323 ft lbs.), and a Fidanza lightened flywheel. I have the Avenir SR20DET. Im hoping I chose a good set-up, we shall see. I pretty much went with cost on the flywheel and reputation on the clutch kit. Whatever you do, dont order from racesearch.com. I ordered my flywheel on tuesday....they still havent shipped it and its going on friday! I might cancel and order from ptuning.com.
llaprad1 05-17-2002, 01:08 AM My Jim Wolf Pressure Plate and Stock Clutch Disc have been grabbing strong for going on 3 years now, with no sign of slipping.
I drive about 10k miles/year and, a few moinths ago before my CAI and exhaust, I dyno'd at 139 to the wheels.
I reach redline at least once a day, and catch a *hard* second at least once every two weeks.
I'd say I recommend it.

Once every two weeks? Most people here probably do that every two days.
I would suggest the JWT pressure plate with the B15 stock disc. It's a little better.
playatx99 05-17-2002, 01:36 AM haha i have you all beat, my car sees a HARD run through the gears(banging 2nd and 3rd pretty good) every day, on my POS ebay clutch, still grabbin real nice, although its only been on for 4k, with repeated drag strip launches 50 miles after it was put in

Ah, young one. I'm much older, wiser, and more boring than thee.
Seriously, my driving got more tame when I started doing all the mechanical stuff myself.
NissanGuy01 05-17-2002, 02:38 AM The Stock Clutch Disk is suffecient enough for an SR20DET?

Hmm. What would you say to me if I told you I was 37?

Um, I'll change my answer to more boring. ;)

Thats too funny. Im 28 and I know a bunch of old geezers.
I was trying to picture a 37-year old doin smoky burnouts twice a day!
Not that 37 is relatively old, mind you, just that friends of mine that are close to that age would roll their eyes at the thought of merely driving quickly.
