: Need alternative copper gasket for oil drain plug.

I FORGOT:mad: to get the damn copper gasket for my oil drain plug from Nissan when I bought my oil filter. Im changing my oil tomorrow. Any alternatives or other copper gaskets at any auto stores?

Do you change the copper gasket at every oil change? I have never replaced mine and I have not had any problems so far.

I've been usin the same one for 168k. Mabe i should change it. How many hp would a nice shinny new one be worth? Yea most auto parts stores should be able to hook you up.;)

Damn! I have been changing mine EVERY oil change. I thought that was the whole point. I guess not. Time to save $.79!!! woohooo!!!!

From what I remember, the dealer mentioned to me that they suggest changing them every 3 oil changes just to do it.

Hell, everytime I go to pick up some oil filters, the parts guy hands me like 5-8 of those for no charge. I got about 15 of them right now in my tool box.

He also stated that they are the same ones used for auto tranny drain plugs. ????? I don't know since I do not have a auto.

Havent changed mine. then again a new one came with the new oil pan so i guess that counts. dont think its the same as the auto tranny, its way different. from what i remember atleast, havent been under the car in a few weeks ***
