While getting a new tire mounted at a well known shop my wheel was damaged. The center cap was all dinged and scratched like it was tapped on with a hammer, and there is a considerable chip in the alloy right on the edge of the center cap (like a screwdriver was used to pry the cap out). I can't figure out why so much attention was paid to this center cap. The thing pops in and out using the simplest tools - fingers! Anyway, I went in and complained. The manager comes out, takes a look at the damage, asks me how much the wheel costs, etc. He tells me that there is nothing that he can do, I will need to speak with his boss who was not there. Today I called the managers boss to find out what I need to do. I explained the situation, and he told me to bring the wheel by so he can look at it and decide what needs to be done.

My question is what are the possible remedies available? New wheel? Get the wheel fixed? How should it be fixed? Or, am I looking at a refund for the work done and thats it?

Yeah, I'm a pretty mellow guy, just don't f-up my car!! Friendly but firm is the best way. Yelling and screaming accomplishes nothing. I don't want them to re-condition it either, because like muleman said, what if it doesn't match up? Does anyone know if The Tire Rack still sells SSR Integrals? I don't see them on their web page anymore?

How about this one.

While vacationing last summer I got flat. I found a firestone tire place in the south end of Burbank CA, bought a new tire and had them put it on. One have hour later I'm going 80m/hr on the freeway and it starts coming off ! (thump thump) The lugs weren't tightened and the result was near death and two striped studs.

This past winter I traded my bridgestones in for Toyo's. ( out of the four protenza's I had over 2 years, 3 of them went flat ). I bought them at Discount Tire installed and had them do an alignment. I picked up the car in the afternoon, got home and before I went into the house I walked around the car admiring my new tires. What I found was that there were only 3 studs on the front right wheel. They had broken a stud and they never told me about it! I went back them the next day quite red in the face. They said, "oh yeah". They also said I could come back the next week and they would fix it for me for free.

"Next week ? You expect me to be driving on three lugs for a week ?"

"You'll be fine"

I promptly went down the street, had it repaired at another shop that afternoon and sent Discount Tire the bill.

At least they paid it.

Tell them that you want to speak with corporate....(if nothing happens with the managers), be sure to get their names though. This always, always works in your favor.
