For some reason when i put my car into 1st, it will be like its not in all the way, cause when i start to let off the clutch and accelerate it makes a grinding noise, so then i have to push the clutch back in and release the gas and put it into gear again and hope i wont grind, it sometime takes me 3 or 4 tries.... this problem started about a week ago... my dad says something about linkage. Just curious if any of you know what this problem is or have had it. BWT it only happens sometimes when i am completely stopped and then shift into first. If i shift into first coming up to a stop light before i stop it is fine. :(

Hmmmm... well bloke, I would say there are a few things to check before taking the trany out.
1-Cable adjusted properly?
2-Those 2 cheap bolts on the cable retaining bracket mounted on the trany case tend to strech over time. Things get loose and sloppy. Replace them with HIGH GRADE non-Nissan bolts from say, Ace hardware. I got high grade/tensile ($$) Stainless.
3-Drop trany and inspect throw out bearing and it's linkages.
4-Open case and replace all Baulk ring sets (sorry, they are not called syncros, those are on the gears). ;) Replace all worn syncros and gears.
Should replace all bears. Ok... just find a used trany if it gets to this unless you want to do a rebuild. This trany is pretty easy to rebuild. I have done a few.
5-Check your motor mounts. Damaged mounts have been known to cause strange things with cable clutches.
6-Dance around the car yelling strange chants and then pray. I hear this works most of the time. :)
7-throw your tools on the ground in anger because it's really their fault (yes I did this once. No, it did not fix the problem). :D

I had problems getting my car into 1st, 3rd 4th, and 5th gears and thought my tranny was gone but after close inspection, it turned out that 2 motor mount bolts were broken and the tranny was off by about 1.5inches so i replaced them with ES inserts and new bolts and the problem was gone. Check all your motor mounts especially the front and rear ones(one by the radiator, and the other by where the shift linkage is at)

great call bloke. I have to say the engine mounts could be the problem also. check it all before you start a trany tear down.
