How do you replace the fuel pump on the classic? I took the rear seat off and found where the fuel pump is (I think). I have taken the four bolts off that holds down what looks like a cover. Now I'm able to see wires and so on. What's next?

Do I remove what seems like a ring that is being held down by four screw as well?

Do I need to relieve some gas pressure or sort before I blow myself up or start drinking gasoline? :)

Thanks!

Do this, as I did:

1. Pull your fuel pump fuse, start car and run until it stalls.

2. Disconnect Negative wire on battery, and undo your gascap.

3. Remove wire harness from pump on top of the tank.

4. Remove that ring with the 6 or 8 bolts that hold it.

5. Disconnect fuel level unit from pump via the hoses.

6. (200SX way) pull the entire pinkish box out of the tank,
it will be tricky, but DOES come through that hole no
matter how odd it looks. There are metal tabs that hold
the box down in the tank, may have to slightly bend them.

7. Take fuel pump out and install the new one.

8. Assemble just the opposite!

Hope this helps!!
