Has anyone dropped an engine into their sentra or 200sx other than a nissan engine? such as a toyota 4ag or 3sgte or even a mitsubishi 4g63?

ya, why? The SR20 can run circles around the other brand 2.0L motors. It'd be a waste of time, money, and a good car in my mind.

If you could slap in a 3sgte engine, would you? All the parts are available here, not to mention loads of aftermarket, now granted motor mounts and good bit of other stuff would have to be fabricated though the result would be truly interesting. Lets look at the JDM engines available for nissans, I used to have a 240 with a CA18DET which caused me more trouble than what it was worth simply because of parts availabilty I was constantly trying to source any parts I needed from other USDM cars such as 300zx and the older 200sx and pulsar these engines CA18ET, CA18DE, VG30DETT all used similar componets though never all the same. I have friends that have theSR20DET under the hood of their 240sx's that fear the day that their starter goes out simply because it is not on any engine sold here in the states, and no the SR20DE starter will not work. Same goes for the valves, the exhaust valves are not sold here, because I believe they have something inside (sodium??), you bend them and your having to spend a lot of money and your facing a good bit of down time. I realize this is truly breaking away from everything Nissan though I am far from being so biased as to stating that SR20DET or SR20VE or SR16VE is hands down the best engine we could ever place in our cars, nor am I stating that they are not capable engine, I have seen in some of my option magazines where someone had taken a sr16ve head placed it on a sr20 block or stroked the sr16ve to 2 liter and turboed it and was laying down over 300 hp to the ground, which is quite impressive, though it all falls back to parts availabilty, If I could slap in a 3sgte or 4g63 engine this would grant more power and parts availabilty would be as close as the toyota or mitsubishi dealer.
It's ashame though that nissan never brought over the SR20DET.

After seeing how well the WRX is doing, I hope they realise just what a mistake they're making!
