Well, so today I finally get my header gasket from the Nissan dealer, so I say...let me put the header on.

One of the 2 HS primaries I have still has a crack in it, so I decide to put the other one (second gen), just to see how it is, then when I put the other one on, to see if there is any difference.

So I take the second gen HS primary, and prep it to paint it. I use a wire wheel to clean it up a little.

Next I spray it with some 1500 degree heat resistent paint.

Here is the first few coats:

A few more coats:

And finally finished:

Here are the 2 HS headers, and the PS one lined up:

Here are the HS and PS downpipes, the Pacesetter one is actually bigger than the HS:

I didnt have a primary/secondary gasket, so I made one using a Pepsi can (thanks to Greg Perry for suggesting that I make my own gasket):

Here is the HS header in and ready to go...or is it?

Well, I didnt have a plug for the egr, and the other header had one, but it was damn near impossible to take off, and I couldnt find a hex key big enough to take it out, so I gave up, and took the HS off, and put the PS back on...but only for a few more days:

Well, the whole day was pointless...but I can say I am an expert at replacing headers, and can do it in less than 1 hour :)

There seems to be such a shortage on that particular gasket...lol. Should I scan mine so people can have an exact shape of it?

Huge improvement, very sharp looking now. Do you plan on using the Ultra copper Permatex on that Pepsi gasket? It would seem to be too thin to work well. On HS's gaskets they have raised bumps that circle the exhaust holes in the midpipe. They compress once the header and midpipe are tightened down.
Your homemade one would not have that extra material but ultra copper could solve that.

In any case good job! Now repeat after me... CHHRRRROOOOOOMMMMME!!! LOL :D

Chrissy, I cut out the gasket while the header was off. I just took the pepsi can, and put it agains the downpipe, and cut around it. You can scan it, but I am not certain if it is the same as the HS one. You have a Stillen header if I remember correctly.

Ralph, this homemade (ghetto) gasket, was just until mid next week until I get the one thats supposed to come with the headers, so it was only temporary, BUT since I had to put the old header back on, I didn't even get to use it. Oh, and BTW, you need to do something about your chrome fetish, it scares me :)

So does this mean you're going to dyno it on the 26th?
Come on. We need to know the gains, bro.

Dont tempt me! I do and I dont, there will be a dyno day down in Miami probably in June, and I would rather do it down here, just in case something breaks, I am closer to home.
