: Jobs in IT
93SERSENTRA 05-18-2002, 12:44 AM Do any of you guys here know of any openings in IT related positions? If so I would appreciate some feedback. I have not worked since April 3rd and I need a job. You can either post here or email me at TS6141@Yahoo.Com.
I will relocate preferably to a warmer climate. ;)
mpg9999 05-18-2002, 12:48 AM Have you checked Northern VA? Of course the economy has slowed, im not sure how many jobs there are, buy Northern VA has a lot of companies.
93SERSENTRA 05-18-2002, 12:50 AM To be honest I have looked everywhere.
Arizona
Florida
Maryland
Ohio
Virginia
Alabama
Kentucky
Tennessee
Georgia
California (even though I don't want to live there)
I just can't find anything and I have easily submitted 100+ resumes since I got laid off. Money is not tight yet but I don't want to exactly cut it close. I know the economy has slowed but there has to be something out there. :(
nissan98ser 05-19-2002, 03:06 AM www.monster.com and www.hotjobs.com would be a good place to look. I work in the computer field in NY and it's really tough to find work now.
David.
Storm88000 05-19-2002, 03:49 AM Hmm. Not to be a pain but this really should be in off-topic.... :)

Just a newbie. I've been out since October 23.

I have found those to be less than worthless. My job interviews have come from knowing people, the newspaper, and the NC Employment Security Commission (the unemployment office :( )

I'll second that mad matt.
Since November  God I would have to sell my "Nice" car if I am out for that long. :(
blitz4x 05-19-2002, 09:40 PM IT jobs are hard to get big time now days..
Peanuthead 05-20-2002, 12:14 AM Tell me about how hard it is to find a good IT job now. I'm just glad that I didn't make the move to a bigger company. I came REAL close from leaving a small company to a medium sized one. Well after I decided to turn down there offer they got sold to another company (or something like that) about less than 6 months later. They are still the same company, but can you imagine a new guy just getting ahold of things and then having to possibly relearn somethings all over again. And two the new guy is always the easiest to get rid of it seems. I can say this though when the Tech sector goes back up I think it is going to go nuts. Not like right before the turn of the year nuts but definitley nuts.
93SERSENTRA 05-20-2002, 12:29 AM I'm just hoping sooner than later. I can't go that long without a job I am already out of things to do. It'd be one thing if I had a lot of mods that I could do ony my car but I don't have any waiting to be put on so I just sit and look for jobs everyday.
I would be happy to work for a small company and I think that I may go that route this time around.
MauiBlueGride 05-20-2002, 08:40 AM www.clarion.com Job openings link - We are still looking or an AS/400 System Operator in Gardena, CA - not sure what you specialize in though....
No more openings in Ky :-(
Chris
(Maybe convince them to hire a PC tech for Detroit so I don't have to go up there all the time :->)

Here! Here! My experience has been the same. All of my jobs had been through friends and relatives.

Are you willing to relocate? How far are you willing to travel? Is downtown chicago far for you?
There are some places down here in SC that are hiring, it's definitely a nice warm climate. They're mainly government stuff though, like military applications where you need a security clearance and all that. I think one of them is called EMA, Egan Macallister Associates or something like that. The company I'm interning for right now (Westvaco) just merged with Mead up there in Dayton. They fired almost half the IT people here in Charleston, or they had to move up to Dayton, I'm lucky to still have this job.
93SERSENTRA 05-20-2002, 03:41 PM I will relocate to anywhere like I said preferably a warmer climate but I will take what I can get. I just don't want to take a huge pay cut.
I will look into some of the suggestions you guys have provided.
Thanks again
