: Dog III Stuff
choaderboy2 01-28-2007, 02:29 AM Here are some of the latest pics shot at Afterhours Automotive. I am sorting photos and am bored.

Added some additional vents to the hood. Seeing that the GT cars in Japan have these last week thought I better have some too. My Aerodynamicist buddy says that you want to get as much air out of the engine compartment via the hood as posible which makes the splitter work better and generaly helps reduce lift. We are going to use the aero latch flush hood latches as those make way less drag and are super positive.

Carbon sunroof replacing thing. Brian made this out of carbon with a foam core, its really strong in case I decide to flip over.

Decided to vent the oil cooler to the side under the right front canard since this is a low pressure area. Don't have to build a rock shield for the cooler like usual and probably is better not to dump air into the front wheelwell if you can help it for aero reasons.

You might have seen this picture but I'll post it again because I love this part of the car so much. Its the rear diffuser with carbon dividers and vortex generators.
I plan on not running much wing angle so this baby can create downforce with less drag penalty.

veilside180sx 01-28-2007, 11:58 AM I love the rear diffuser...well and everything else as well. (I think I can get away with one on the street...haha)
Can you take a pic of the diffuser from the front under the car, I'm curious to see how you have it setup on that side?

I love em...the cheap chit has no place on a well-built racecar IMO.
Mike: looks great. If you decide to flip over though, I hope you're depending more on the cage than the blingbling CF piece. :)
choaderboy2 01-28-2007, 12:21 PM Whats that sticker on the hood? Close up!
choaderboy2 01-28-2007, 12:32 PM The sad thing is that now that the Hasport guys have stepped up the power of the yellow CRX, I don't think this car can beat it. This car would have easily won LAST year. I think this car can turn a 1:56 or so at Buttonwillow. We need to go 1:52.
Nissan doenst make a FWD car capable of beating the Hondas. You cant beat a Hoosier shod 2100 lb double wishboned 440 whp car with a 2500 lb, strut beam axle car with 350 whp and a lot of torque no matter how much you engineer it.
Unlike World Challange there is no rewards weight in Time Attack. We will have to settle for second fastest.
denske 01-28-2007, 05:36 PM hey mike, you think brian would make another sunroof plug for a classic? i need one of those.

A friend of mine has one of the stickers on his Honda where the hand is getting caught in the timing belt, with fingers splayed. Since the SR is a timing chain and we have an infant, I went this route. It was on the underside of a large Tupperware container lid. :biggthump

classicaddict 01-29-2007, 12:06 AM thats quite impressive.:eek2:
itsbrokeagain 01-29-2007, 02:31 AM wow....I would expect nothing less than this coming from Mike...plus it gives me lots of ideas for my own car.
After seeing the Dentsport 240sx at Limerock back in November doing time trials, then seeing it on the cover of SCC this month, being different doesn't seem so crazy anymore :).
What I'm curious about is what does it cost to build a cage like that with all the gussets and stuff?

There is more to a cage than gussets, but you can expect to pay from 3000-5000$ for a cage that goest trhough the firewall, etc.

.
what do you think about ducting air to the front brakes? could it be worth while?
choaderboy2 01-29-2007, 02:00 PM I dunno, this is just what I am doing. I think my front brakes are big enough not to need ducts.
itsbrokeagain 01-29-2007, 02:05 PM who are you? :)
who am I?
Just a fan of Mikes work since the early days when I was just getting into imports :D
actually just a kid who wants to do something else with a 240 other than drift or drag race it...I'm not someone big or famous or anything like that.
My question should be who are you?
a com member... i have a white b13. my old man has a red one.
OnyxEros 01-29-2007, 02:58 PM Mike if any of us average joes want some of the aero pieces you have (front splitter and hood) would you like for us to go through you or contact afterhours?
