Just curious. Most of the guys I see on here have them in the Classics. Never seen one in the B14 body. Just wondering if anyone has done one? DETs are dime a dozen around here (I'm no exception here either).

Nice! The reason I ask is because I'm probably getting another 200SX SE-R (If I don't find a Classic first) within the next month or so. And since the JDM engine seems to be so much more stout than the USDM one, I was actually thinking of getting a low mileage one and dropping it in. But I don't know how it would work w/ the OBD II stuff. Thats why I asked.

Andreas recently did his first primera motor in a 200sx. Ask or pm ThomasSR20. Came out nice and the car rips!

Badass. I'm still looking around for a car. Hopefully soon I'll make up my mind. I have $1500 to pay off on the DET car (loan wise to the bank) and its mine. As soon as that is done, I'm getting something "normal" to drive around for a daily driver. So far, a 96-97 200SX SE-R is in the lead because they're so cheap. I really don't care much for the 95s for some reason, and classics are SO hard to find.

Yeah, we all know B14's are better...:D

Ya, but classics are just plain fun! :D I almost bought a classic in 96 before I bought my B14. I've always liked the classics, but I love my 200!

Yup, I installed my JDM motor in my old 200sx last year. In fact I think I was the first one in the country with a JDM sr20 in a 200 =)

Ran great, just make sure to change the water pump/temp sensors/you will need a different line for your power steering pump (one from a B13), or just heat the line with a torch and try to bend it (i broke it trying to do this).

But I actually did that swap before you :D I swapped in a JDM primera engine into a '96 SE-R (my old roommates car) back in January of 2000. Man, you have a bad memory; you even e-mailed me about some stuff back then (I was on the list back then) :D LOL!!!

I have a JDM sr20 in my B14. It was swaped in after a JWT C3 faulty spring broke in my engine. That caused a the piston to kiss the valve and the engine to go bye bye.

Be warned, the JDM does not have an EGR on the intake manifold. So you will end up with no EGR and have a very hard time smoging the car in CA. My car is off the streets for now since I cannot smog it :( You can swap a USDM intake manifold from a 91-92 SE-R and that will solve your problems.

Couldn't you just put the steering pump that was on your old motor on this one? I don't see why they'd be different.

Yea, I don't see why you coudn't. I'm running a PS pump from an NX...

I think I was the first to swap in a 10:1 in an XE back in 99'...........:D

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner! I'm sorry David, my memory really is shot. I'm not sure if it's from aging, or the sticky icky. :)

David is the og for installing a JDM in a 200sx. BTW, IIRC, the power steering line from the 200sx goes up then down, and hits the high port intake manifold of the JDM motor. This is the problem. And you usually do not get a power steering pump with your JDM motor. So you can either buy a B13 power steering line, or mess with yours.

LOL! http://www.ballericons.com/icon/12939.gif Gotta lay off Frank! LOL!! And I actually wasn't the first... I know there was at least one other person before me; I just don't remember who.

And on the P/S pump.. the elbow that comes off the pump needs to be for a high port motor (it's the return side of the pump).

One quick question

If u don't change the Temp Sensor in the JDM motor,Does the Temp Gauge go up and down and sometime is normal.

Cause my Temp gauge most of the time, the nedal will go crazy.

Can someone Confirm somthing for me.

Do you have to have a JWT ECU to run a b14 with a JDM motor?

It is? So you are going to take out a good running USDM SR20DE for a JDM SR20DE?

They are 99.9999999% one in the same.

Edit, I just re-read your original post. So you want a DET, okay but the "stout" thing still stands as a non issue in my mind. You can make huge power on the SR20DE as well, you just have to deal with the extra point of compression.

What are your hp goals?

As far as people putting in JDM engines, the DET is a JDM motor, and has the same issues as a non-turbo JDM motor - so you face the same issues with it in a B14.

Mostly, the intake manifold being different and not having the EGR ports, either get a B13 manifold with the emmissions crap, or forget about it.
