: Do you think this guy is bulshitting or is he for real?
sinistersntra91 05-20-2002, 02:01 PM A guy that lives in my area says he has a 93 Sentra SE-R it has the sleeper look and he has these mods:
place racing intake,
pacesetter header,
2.5 inch exhaust,
ractive muffler,
strut bar,
short throw shifter,
clutch masters clutch stage 3,
milled head,
port & polish,
2 angle valve job,
bored
And he says he only runs a 15.5 in the 1/4 does this sond right or is he full of shit? I questioned it and he blamed it on the clutch he said if he popped it it would sheer his half shafts I think he might be bullshitting me.
99SENTRASER 05-20-2002, 02:06 PM he's not lying....he does 15.5's.......bone stock. or he's just a shitty driver.
98sr20ve 05-20-2002, 02:12 PM It's relativly easy to modify a car and make it worse. That milled head might be a reason because he didn't correct for the timing change. Plus he is not a good driver perhaps. If you don't launch right on the 1/4 mile a bad time is easy to get. Now if he said he had a 14.5 I would be skeptical.
Steve
Chrissy 05-20-2002, 05:00 PM That actually seems a little slow for all that work. Sounds like he is a bad driver.
Storm88000 05-20-2002, 05:08 PM 15.5 is about a second to slow actually.
Chrissy 05-20-2002, 05:08 PM delete this, sorry
Dan_93SER 05-21-2002, 11:58 AM With that clutch, it could be pretty hard to get a good launch.
It depends on who did the engine work too. If it was some monkey, then it shouldn't be the least bit suprising that he's running so slow. Also, his upgrade path is....unorthodox. That's a lot of head work, and still only stock cams? What's up with the 2-angle valve job?!
If you could find out his trap speed, we could see what kind of power he's making.

If he doesn't know how to drag race, that time is entirely possible. Ask him what kind of 60' times he gets.

No way. A 14.5 with just bolt-ons is easier to get than you think.
skyliner 05-21-2002, 01:04 PM If he milled the head he would have to adjust cam timing by A: Putting a thicker headgasket on to replace removed material(Thus negating any compression gain and screwing up flame front travel) B: Put on adjustable cam gears. Port and polish would hurt more than it helps on stock cams IMO. My guess he just has the bolt ons listed and is blowing smoke on the rest(bored,P&P, milling). I like to see him 'shear' a half-shaft, we all know the tranny case goes first! ;) Oh and he probably can't drive either.

My thoughts exactly.
Benito Malito 05-21-2002, 01:26 PM No mounts & clutch masters may get sick wheel hop, and yield really bad 60' times.
Then he doesn't make any of it up on the high end cause that business in the head is out of order. It might be easier to put a used one that's stock.
Needs cams, and ecu also hehe
LogicalRetard 05-21-2002, 03:09 PM Hahaha, sounds like my car, but I don't have ghey mods like that. I got the manly stuff :D. I run a 15.3, but at 95mph. And no, I'm not a bad driver, I even had two of my friends who can drive like men drive my car, and they couldn't muster any better. But he won't sheer the axles, that's the b.s. part. I launch at like 5500 and spin them, even when they hook and bog at 5000 they aqre fine.

I'd don't see how that is possible. What are your mods? I'd like to see that slip. My 14.9 was at 90mph.

Ask Mattback and Rob, they were the two that ran my car. Mattback ran a 15.5 at 95, Rob ran a 15.3 at 89. I ran a 15.2 at 95 previously. But these were at 1320 so no slips, but ask Matt, Rob, or a bunch other people....even Taka.

LogicalRetard 05-22-2002, 06:28 PM 3rdshift.org....hahaha....they're too cool now. Hey, Dan...Tony said you might be willing to sell me your stock downpipe since your going turbo? My flexpipe is shot, and I need a new one....you think you would be willing to let it go...cheap :D?
Storm88000 05-22-2002, 06:46 PM 95mph trap is unlikely with those mods, but not impossible. Remember your trap speed is a good indicator of how much HP your car is making.
