: change mc with front brakes?

I was wondering if the Master cyl change is a wise decision if I got nx2000 front brakes? Eventually , I'm thinking about the rear maxima brake upgrade, which porportioning valve should I get for my b13?

My B13 with AD22vf's and stock rears with Bobcats, IMO, is too front biased. MaddMatt tracks his with the same setup, he likes it. I got the NX2k mc WITH BIAS VALVING from GregV to increase rear bias. The aftermarket mc's do not come with the different bias valves, as I understand it (they sell the same part # for SER's and NX2K's). If you're going to go to the maxima rears, that changes everything, as you'll have more swept area in the rear; you might be able to stay with the stock mc EXCEPT that you will have more pedal travel, which is why people go to a larger cylinder bore mc like from the Altima. My personal take is that people are throwing darts with a blindfold on - at that point you really ought to be installing an adjustable proportioning valve to dial the car in.

just go with ad22vf front brake setup, stock rear brake setup, altima mc and you should be stopping on a dime with more rear brake bias, but not enough to lock them up. also, go with ss braided brake lines on the front.

NO - the altima mc has EVEN MORE FRONT bias than the stock mc. Honest. If you're going to go to bigger rears, you can do the altima mc when you do that. For now, live with it or get the nx2k mc from Greg. OR face what I chose not to, which is to plumb in (probably two, one for each front line) a proportional bias valve to adjust (reduce) the front pressure so you get the right balance. If you're going to do braided lines, for christ's sake do all four. Pentium, what are you thinking? You wanna kill this kid?

IC, so I should run ad22vf fronts and a nx2000 mc and call it a day, and save 200+ bucks or so?

Can I get the master cyl with biased valving from any autoparts stores or any other aftermarket rebuilds?

stay with ad22vf and NX MC for a sreet car

thanks for the tips, now my brake upgrade shopping list is a lot smaller and affordable.

BTW, what master cyl and porportilning valve do people use with those Willwood brake kits I have seen? Or any of those 4 piston upgrades.

the AD22VFs definitely shift the bias up from. I'd say it becomes like 95%/5%. I put them on around 30k miles or so. At ~160k miles and I STILL have the original rear pads on! Granted, they're probably hard as rocks being 10 yrs old.

Regardless, have the extra braking power from the bigger brakes is invaluable. I faded the stock brakes VERY badly... when I was NA! had to blow right through a redlight at ~40mph because I couldn't stop. Good thing it was really late at night. After that, I made brakes my next upgrade.

Pretty sure the core mc is the same for the nx and the B13. Frequently the rebuild mc's are ONLY the mc itself without the funny little "long nuts" that are actually the bias valves. The rear valves are actually pretty sophisticated in that they (I don't have a clue how, but this is what it says in the literature) close up more under hard braking to reduce line pressure to the rear brakes to reduce the chance of the rears locking up, which as you know leads to interesting things. Even if you got an Altima core mc, you'd still have to retrofit the stock bias valves and you'd get the same front/rear bias.
Bias is NOWHERE NEAR 95/5 after the conversion, but it DOES move it forward because of the huge difference in swept area. Lotsa people put good pads up front and lousy ones in back, making the problem even worse. Cars with a poorly thought out or executed conversion will actually have WORSE braking because the rears become virtually useless (or if too much in the rears, dangerous).

hey, I just called MOssy and Greg V doesnt work there anymore. Which biased valve do I get, or which mc is it?

Greg is now G Spec Performance, check his posts in the Vendor section. he's alive and well and still get any factory stuff, and still manages to do good prices.
Tell him to get you the same one he got me, for an NX2k
