let me tell you the hole story......... my service engine soon light turned on so i did a ECU test to find out what was wrong with it. The code that i got was (7,5) witch is my EVAP system. The problem is that there is a small leak. so what i need to know is if any one ever had this problem with a 200sx se-r? and how or if they fixed it.any help would be appreciated.

I'm dealing with 0705 and 0309 codes right now with my Sentra. They've been there ever since I de-turboed. Power deliver and gas mileage is not affected, it's just annoying as hell. :( I have tried a few things but they have not worked :(

Ok I've had more damn EVAP problems then I know what to do with.... there are two major players here if your car is a 96.5+?

If so you PROBABLY have the charcoal canister mounted under the car near the drivers side rear wheel. If so that bastard breaks and gets water in it EASY. I've replaced the canister on my '98 SE I had, and on my 2002 G20. Its a bastard-bad design.... Easy part to get to though, there is also in the FSM something on weighing the canister to see if it has water in it. I have an extra canister and the control valve (valve has less than 8k on it, from my G20).

The '98 SE got water in it and the valve died, you could smell gas at times when it was hot..... just barley though

the G20, something in the road cracked the plastic box and it had a huge leak - I just got another at a junk yard and fixed it.

Best of luck maybe that info helps, maybe not??

Hmmm, I had mine out and tried what the FSM said to see if water was in it and I just ended up pouring charcoal bits all over the floor of my garage. Does that mean anything?

The Most common problems on the evap system are either the canister or the valve that is bolted to it. (Vent Control Valve).
Replace them both at the same time(don't bother weighing them)
The bolts for the valve usually sieze or snap off or keep turning and turning. I'm not saying this is the only problem, their could be others (bad gas cap, leaking vent line, rusted out filler neck(not very common anymore) etc.). If you have a decent dealer around, get a consult printout to verify, get the parts and do it yourself (it's not very difficult) Just my 2 cents
